I have a cool head that im about to run w/ 18cc domes I had 22cc domes before. I have boyesen reeds and cages, 1/2in carb spacers, an aluminum Y w/18cc a single 39mm kehien carb with a k&n, and t5 exhaust. I also have a Ricky stator and an adjustable timing plate. When you install the 18cc domes you need to compression test your motor and that will tell you what type of fuel you will need to run. dajogejr Posted December 12, 2011 Report Share Posted December 12, 2011 I know this is old...but you need to measure compression ratio, not cranking compression. You get cranking compression by using a PSI gauge in the cylinder. You get compression ratio by measure parts/clearances/tolerances inside the motor. Cylinder volume and trapped head volume are just a few of the numbers you'll need. dajogejr Posted December 15, 2011 Report Share Posted December 15, 2011 I'd use octane boosters in an absolute pinch if I had too, otherwise, hell no. Octane boosters are good for a point or two, and you'd have to use quite a bit to be honest. Toulene is a common compound used in octane boosters, as well. It is NOT what you want for a high revving two stroke motor. Buy race fuel, again...if you need it based on compression ratio, not cranking compression.
