Tyler, all I want is the case number, but with the vin, it will show the date and time the original report was filed, along with the date and time of recovery. Also, just thought about this, jon, don't run NCIC, because if you get a hit, they're going to want info, and how you got the VIN. NICB would be better, since their hits don't require notes.
