Judge1
Thoughts on whtat is the best CDI. I don't need programable shit, just good spark!
Surfrjag
Stick with the oem unit I have had and know people that have had nothing but trouble with aftermarket cdi's and stators.
BUILDER
Get on ebay and get a oem one. You dont want aftermarket they do not last very long as a general rule

AKheathen
if you don't need the features/programming, stick with the oem cdi and look at a coil setup for stronger spark, and the timing can be adjusted with a timing plate if that's what you are after. 2004LEBanshee
Stick oem. Most e bay aftermarket cdis advertise more power. They make it by upping your timing. Problem is they say its between 2 to 5 degrees. You never know for sure what it is. Oem with adjustible timing plate.
Judge1
I have timming plate already. I ask about CDI because have have a spark issue. I have another thread on this but I will explain what is going on. I am getting good spark on one side and intermittent spark on the other. I have tested the coil and the stator and they read good. CDI and stator are origional to 2000, the coil is 2 years old and flywheel is brand new. So I am wondering if the CDI is going bad or what. The bike will not start at all. AKheathen
first, check your plug caps and wires, by unscrewing the caps and tossing them in the trash, lol. really, check to make sure the wire is getting good contact in the caps, and the caps should ohm out. when you remove the caps, trim 1/4" off the end of the wires before screwing them back in. put fresh plugs in, and then the next step would be to cvarefully un-clip the wires from the coil and trim just the same. after that, check the pickup gap on both sides of the flywheel. cdi's never really go out, and if they happen to, then they completely go out and do not store enercy, and sometimes can be made to work for a little bit by smacking it. however, if you are, indeed, getting good blue spark on the one side, then it is definately not the cdi, because it fires the orange wire, which fires both sides at the same time, so if one is good, then it is getting good power from the cdi. Just to be certain, the orange wire is positive and black negative?
