530grafix
So is it better to have as big as possible front sprocket and gear down withthe back or vise versa or does it really even matter?
okbeast
I never really thought it mattered. Final drive ratio is final drive ratio. Someone else might have a differing opinion.

RadarRacing
I like to have a larger front sprocket . With a 12 or 13 tooth front sprocket the chain has to make a much sharper bend to go around the sprocket. I like to run a 15 or 16 tooth front but with a 14 tooth front sprockets are easier to get. BUILDER
One reason to run a bigger front sprocket is for better chain life but other than that no not really any reason to go big front or rear

scorpo04
Final drive ratio is not the same changing sprockets... your trans gear ratio stays the same but the larger the driven the sharper the acells and lower top speed... vise versa goin up on the drive sporcket adds more top end and will ultimately rob acceleration... RiDeTRIKES250R
You must have stock trans and starting off in first 14/38 depends alot on your engine and tires... i run 15/38 on anything above 485.
possum
Yes sir.. Have gotten fastest times and mph up olds 1 thru 3. The gearing makes everything taller and pulls way harder with less hp. I walk alot of bikes i shouldnt..
