stroking
I have straight gears on mine and it blew the bearing? wtf? guess that kills the theory that stock gears causes this! think i'll be putting ball bearing in all motors from now on

okbeast
I'm running a TZ bearing with stock gears. No issues at all
Ron Strecker
I'm running a TZ bearing with stock gears. No issues at all Someday will happen & you will be racing in the last round in a class. Stock primary gears puts tons of stress on the crank. Thats why the cranks come with ball bearings. Thats why the cranks come with ball bearings. I just have a little motor. It'll be fine, I talked with the engineer at the bearing company and he said it'd be fine. camatv
i agree it hink its posibly a crappy install and bad chinese shit bearing.. i have ran and still to this day have all TZ style roller drum bearings on all my cranks. only one motor i have is running a set of straight cut gears no problems i like that idear of clipping the other bearings in the cases lately i have been wondering about that very thing... i was thinkign the other day hmm what keeps the crank in side to side movement if i run this tz on this side. i have also in the past used clips on the races to keep them centerd in the cases. stroking
got another bearing failure its off of a billet 10mil this time its the max load...stator side bearing also the billet crank carries a different TZ bearing...the inner hole is bigger as is the race is also on the crank Edited October 23, 2011 by stroking
stroking
maybe the GOLD colored TZ is a Chinese brand i guess this thread shows that all bearing will give....some just happen faster than others
Ron Strecker
The gold cage TZ bearings is NTN made in Japan.. NTN bearings are the best bearings you can get. I get over 200 1/4 mile passes on my billet cranks with NTN bearings. I don't use TZ bearings.
Ron Strecker
Get a new flywheel.. Shows on the crank.. That could be your bearing problems too..
sprinklerman
That flywheel side shaft looks NASTY.. looks like the flywheel was not mated well to it.
camatv
what happend to the flywheel?? bearings are bearings. simple as that if they are built from inferiour materials OR installed wrong, used wrong or outside things going on like bad flex in crank out of round oout of true bad lube etc they will break.. stroking
im beginning to think we have a bad batch of alcohol here......this makes the 5th crank bearing to go out in 2 weeks all these bikes are getting there alky from the same place this is a stock stroke hot rod crank
bigborebanshee
I have to agree with the poor installation or improper torque, but I also agree with the helical gears are compounding the issue. If the torque was correct on the center mains, the crank should have never walked over and slapped the bearing.
Coupelx
4 year old hotrods crank in an unported bike. would it be worth while to cut a groove in the cases on the center bearings for a clip like the transmission bearings have?
