frog
Will be buying a new crank and was wondering how much better is a billit over a forged crank. Also how are the TDR cranks.
camatv
i have a forged TDR crank in mine and its been bullet proof. its going on its 5th year with no hicups or issues BUT that being said if there is any issue with the motor i imediatly stop riding it and try and remidy the problem. also i took lots of care when i assembled the motor and have been diligent on the tuning and maintenance of the engine.. i have seen billets break and have seen fordged break cranks right now are a hard choice to try and get a decent quality one.. J-Madd
I have a 10 mil with a freshly rebuilt billet crank, and one with a forged crank of some sort (I bought motor used), and I limit the amount of passes on the forged crank. If you have the money, go with the billet. jmo.
locogato11283
I say forged. They're a lot cheaper and you can almost buy two of them for the price of one billet. I've had both break so I opt for the cheaper one now.
stroking
BOTH will break...billet is a waste of money....ive even seen a billet CRACK right above the pin....never seen a forged crank do that get the cheap one
dajogejr
BOTH will break...billet is a waste of money....ive even seen a billet CRACK right above the pin....never seen a forged crank do that get the cheap one Ditto... I've had PROPERLY setup forged cranks (trued and welded) last years and hundreds if not thousands of passes. My old crankworks forged crank was used when i bought it, I added a TZ on the PTO side and anyone that rode with me knows I put over a thousand passes on that crank. The TZ bearing finally went out on it (I don't run straight cuts...don't believe in them on a smaller motor) That being said, I purged mine regularly, kept it in a good state of tune, etc. I personally would stay away from the bottom of the line cheapo cranks...many of the site sponsors sell quality cranks, hit them up. frog
Well I guess I'll go with the forged crank seeing as they last just as long as the billet. Thanks for the input..
