Drturbodiesel
Hey I just found out I need to do a top end rebuild. The crank seals are not what failed to cause this but how many of you would replace them anyway? Just wondering
apeik
If it's apart, drop the cash and do it, otherwise you may get halfway through a season and be doing it, not a bad time to check out the crank and get it welded if you have mods. I should know i seperated a crank last season, busted the drive side crank bearing and took the crank seal with it. Ran it lean on the right side and put a scar in my cylinder. Milage may vary, Good Luck.

Coupelx
if you dont mind splitting the cases its not a bad idea. good time to check bearings as well. they tend to be hard on stuff when they fail
spurdy
If it is already apart, I never re use bearings or seals. Too much time, effort and money to do the same shit twice over a few bucks (not to mentin that a leaky seal or bad bearing can cause the repairs to more the second time around). Drturbodiesel
Wait a minute if u have to split cases to change them than I'm out. There's nothin wrong with the ones in it. I thought I could pull the flywheel and maybe stator to change that side and clutch cover and what ever else to her the main drive gear off the other side. I'm not spiliiin cases

Drturbodiesel
It's the bikes first overhaul. It's not that I can't or need to learn. U guys say the case has to be split I'm assuming they must install from the inside. I dident know that I thought they could be done with engine on bike. I don't have time to take it apart that far just for preventive matnince. If it was a older bike that had been running a long time I sure would. But mine is a 05 and it the first overhaul so if I had to split cases I'll just wait and Make sure it passes leakdown test after I get new top end assembled. Thanks for the info

Thanks for the info The seals are grooved in the middle therefore you have to split the cases to remove and replace. SP
