If it's apart, drop the cash and do it, otherwise you may get halfway through a season and be doing it, not a bad time to check out the crank and get it welded if you have mods. I should know i seperated a crank last season, busted the drive side crank bearing and took the crank seal with it. Ran it lean on the right side and put a scar in my cylinder. Milage may vary, Good Luck.

It's the bikes first overhaul. It's not that I can't or need to learn. U guys say the case has to be split I'm assuming they must install from the inside. I dident know that I thought they could be done with engine on bike. I don't have time to take it apart that far just for preventive matnince. If it was a older bike that had been running a long time I sure would. But mine is a 05 and it the first overhaul so if I had to split cases I'll just wait and Make sure it passes leakdown test after I get new top end assembled. Thanks for the info

The seals are grooved in the middle therefore you have to split the cases to remove and replace.
