Jgspahn
From reading on here, it sounds like I need to adjust my needle. I did try to do that, but couldn't really find how to do it in the yamaha manual. Can anyone help me out on how? I'm about to try search and see what I come up with. Take top cap off carb, pull out slide and needle will be in the slide. Pop the needle up, and use a needle nose to remove the tiny e clip. Move the clip one notch up, as you have a rich stumble. Reassemble and repeat on other carb. Move only one notch at a time between test rides.
Larry's Shee
Have you tried adjusting air screw or have you synced the carbs?
06specialedition
Check your air screws. Count how many turns. Start at 2 full turns out and see how it runs. Your needle controls more of the 1/2 to 3/4 throttle range, so that shouldn't be the problem.
Jgspahn
It has the Tors removed, and I have synced the carbs with the FAST tool. How do you pop the slide off and get the needle out? I see that there are two screws, and a funny looking clip on the underside of th carb tops, and I didnt know what to do with them or the spring... U unscrew the big cap on the top of the carbs, and pull out the entire assembly. Then the needle should be hanging there. Push it up out the top I believe (I haven't messed with stock carbs in a while). Its not that hard to take apart, it's getting it back together that is the fun part. You have to hold your tounge just right to get it back together. Just make sure you do one at a time. The pilot jets are responsible for the first 1/4 throttle, but the transition immediately above that range is the needle. I agree with the air mixture screw comment. volcrano
definately adjust ur pilot air screw before anything.run it in to 1 turn out.ride it.see what it does and how it responds.then turn it to 2.5 turns out.which did it run better at?if it likes to be out its too rich and u need stock 25 pilot.if it likes being in to 1 u need a 30 pilot.also,go in increments of 1/4 turns between 1 and 2.5 and see if it clears up before changing pilot.it might be slightly off and not need a pilot change at all.also, unless u have the idle kit it shouldnt idle.are u sure u used the sync tool right.if u have it idleing,ur slides are being pulled up by throttle cable tension,so if its idleing check sync at idle and at a steady throttle.they need to be the same.
