sprinklerman
What is involved in modding the shift shaft? I have searched but all i find is Shift Star mod. The mod i've used is opening up the slot where the adjustment cam/bolt goes. It just allows more travel. .......now is there another mod i'm unaware of? If so, i'd like to find out about it. Yep, You can also bore the holes out in the case half that the shaft goes through and install a needle bearing. You can also turn down the shaft drum on the primary drive side and install a needle bearing there. That puts the drum rotating on two bearinsg, one on each side instead of only one side. Together you can make a stock transmission shift pretty damn nicely. SP
Strm Trpr
The needle bearings in the holes for the shift shaft sound good. The drum mod also sounds good. Do you know of any shops that offer these services?

Do you know of any shops that offer these services? I've done mine myself. If your handy with a drill it is no problem to enlare the hole in the case for the shift shaft bearings. A drill press would be the easiest. Adding the bearing to the drum requires the use of a lathe. I am not sure if Andy at M&M offers this service but I would bet he could do it considering everything else he does. my tranny shifts like no other.. its unreal here is whats done to it new modded shift shaft, cut star, modded drum with bearing on end, shift pro arm with easy spring from FAST, every other dog on the gears removed.. That is exactly whats been done to my last transmission. Along with the bearings on the shift shaft, and every other webbing cut out on the gears mating to the gears with the dogs. Shifts like butter without the use of the clutch. Cannot shift under wide open throttle like an over ride but the next best thing IMO. I think Kevin at HJR was cutting gears this way for guys. I've done mine on a mill at work but the gears are pretty hard and it is slow going for sure. SP
Strm Trpr
It seems that a lot of people advocate cutting every other dog and engagement dog to their gears. Do Duneable Overrides have this done to them in conjunction to whatever else makes them shift when WFO? Does anyone know if a Duneable N-1-6 is available? Strm Trpr
Yep, perfect pic! But IIRC, F.A.S.T. mods both sides, but I may be mistaken. F.A.S.T. also includes a slightly softer spring as well. Edited September 15, 2011 by Strm Trpr

Yes, all the overrides I have seen have that done also, in addition to springs on the shift fork shafts and modificatin to the shift drum path for the shifting forks. Don't think I have ever seen a N down 1-6. SP
wfobasheeboy
Here is a pic of the mod to the shift shaft on my shee.
