locogato11283
just curious where did you get your engineering degree? thats what i thought I don't need an engineering degree, I've built two bikes like this. I'm sure most of the chassis builders in this industry don't have engineering degrees either. Post a picture of the sprocket side if you're so confident in your build. Dicklez
You are posting your banshee Hybrid on a Banshee forum for people who live and breathe Banshee's to see. Why get all bent out of shape about constructive criticism. These are the guys you want to listen to dumbass.

Beastydeuce
lonny please check out my thread on this very modification.. i looked at every possible option and decided on some faily major frame modifications instead of simply easy. at least the rear motor mounts you have here look decent!! did you check your chain alignment? Thanks boss, I'll go check it out! I firgured sombody had already took this on. Does any one know off hand what a Shee engine/tranny weighs as compared to a modern fo-fifty? Thanks, Lonny
locogato11283
Yah ok whatever you say LOL I'm still waiting for the sprocket side picture. That will tell me a lot about the build. Scared to post it or what?
alongfortheride
Herte you go i do not have the chain slider or rollers on
locogato11283
Looks pretty good. The back picture is deceiving. It looks like the motor sits higher than it really does. If I were you, I'd really reconsider the front mount. Removing at least those short angled tubes will greatly help when it comes time to fab up the pipes. Badbar88
So what's the deal with these hybrids? I haven't seen anyone who has built one give any feeback on how they perform. I guess the idea is to have the powerband we all like but the up to date handling of a new bike?

I haven't seen anyone who has built one give any feeback on how they perform. I guess the idea is to have the powerband we all like but the up to date handling of a new bike? thats kind of my plan. Heck it might ride like crap. I picked up a banshee parts bike and a blown up yfz for under 1500.00 and sold quite a few of the good parts left from the yfz engine. Fun project. i hope it handles well well see

camatv
i have 2 of these this is my reasoning for them.. the stocker the one i have the thread on. is the "practice bike" the good one is my SS/SB 450 killer i have a 350 cub that will go in that one and it will be for the sole purpose of racing the "fast" 4 strokes. figured id use their frame. so there was no excuses. i'm tired of them racing only other slow ass 4 strokes or stocker bikes with pipes on them, and refusing to line up with anything that might actually give them a run for their money. then going in the pits and the net and talking about how fast they are.. no 4.8's at a track is not fast for a 10K motor'd fart can racer.. die hard banshee !! to me the YFZ 450 is a ergonomics miracle. its easy to move around on , its got more modern suspension its retarded light. the chassis fits a banshee motor very well.. the 450 MOTOR Is heavy if you think all that 4 stroke bullshit and wiring and starter and battery and switches and cdi with 900 wires on it and carberator with wiring all over it and bla bla bla is lighter than a banshee yoru mistaken.. i cannot give you specifics but the 4 strokes that i have pulled from frames and put ont he bench made me grunt more than a complete assembled banshee motor. i bet the bare engines weigh within a 20lbs of each other.. i think ready to rock the whole bike will weigh about 300lbs or so. about 120 off the average banshee.. remnber the 450's have alluminum subby, alluminum upper a-arms, and alluminum swingarm.. and a much much simpler frame. the 450's motors are droping like flies this conversion will become more and more popular as they become more available. i cannot think of any other conversion that has been as popular as this. with 2 specific motors/ frame. only other i can think of that compareable is the DS/ busa.. and to this build your going to need that lower roller so dont forget it. bigborebanshee
The yfz450 engines weighs approx 86 lbs ,the banshee I believe is about 75lbs, minus the oil tank and electrical, you are probably saving another 15lbs.So a total of 26 lbs lighter than a 4 stroke. Not tryin to hijack, just giving an example. I am building this yfz 465 now. i weighed it on a bath scale and it looks like its about 67-69lbs. Im figuring about 19lbs lighter than the 450 engine minus the oil tank, electrical at 15lbs and the radiator,overflow,2 qts of coolant, rad hoses ,Replaced the dual piston calipers for singles all around, removed intake/airbox . For another 35lbs It should make this quad approx 69 lbs lighter than a yfz450 and the Engine should make about 60 hp and 48 tq. Remember REMOVING weight is like adding horsepower Edited September 7, 2011 by bigborebanshee
