banshee resale values?

Recommended Posts

More and more I see people trash talking someones sales post for their bike because they feel like its not worth the listing price. Well some of us banshee owners know how much we've invested into our bikes, and what its worth to us but I'm curious what mods/requirements does it take for people to agree with the listers price.

I know I have well over 20gs in my bike. I have everything but a lonestar chassis and billet cases, what would u pay for my bike? What would you pay for your own bike? What about the person above yous bike? I wanna see if there's sone trend to what people value when making a purchase

thats a good question..

guess i could list it like this?

i paid 3k for my first banshee. i invested about 3k back into it over the course of a few years. i trade/ sold it for about 3000. that was in 2001.

i recently sold my "old trail bike" it had a TON of stuff on it i ended up getting 3200 out of it locally. it had full suspension including swingarm ( round carrier) a-arms and shocks, fully built motor carbs cool head reeds, ported welded crank basket big clutch pwk's etc etc, braided brake lines etc.. and nice plastics and everything worked i mean it was kick start and go the guy who bought it came down and rode it at our local riding spot for about an hour before he decided he wanted it. i bought it 2 years earlier for about 3000 and did all the suspension work to it and also rebuilt and resealed the motor.. i think i spent about 2k on it over the life of me having it. i DID remove the custom plastics and the chrome parts it had on it to get the price down i think that stuff was worth about 500-750..

i have 3 banshee's listed on craigslist right now for 1500- 2800 and NOBODY has called about them i have worked on a handfull of what i call craigslist specials bikes for 2000 or so that ended up needing everythign under the sun.. seems at least around here the peeps buying banshees are buying the complete POS's and overlooking the ones that are actually nice..

little over a year ago i bought my outlaw for about 10k after trading a yfz and some cash.. i then brought it home and had to disasemble the motor and fix the trans and the clutch after the basket failed and took out the cases and the trans after riding it for about 1 hour....

i have a bizzlion dollars in my 535 right now i dont think i could get 3000 for it even if i wanted to and its on a complete custom frame ( i paid 2800 for the chassis 3 years ago)

i cannto get 6500 out of my 485 cheeta in a LSR chassis even though i have gone to the dunes and been in the top 5 fastest bikes with it for the last 3 years..

its jsut a tought market right now not saying that the right buyer is not out there..

a stock chassis with a decent motor in it with a-arms is just not worth 7k anymore

I think the current market especially for 2 strokes has deminished bigtime. I remember when you couldnt touch a modded 250r for less than 4500. Least out this way. Even the used 4strokers arent reselling very well. My buddy just picked up an 08 honda 450 built for $1900. Think nobody wants to pay bigtime dollars anymore. Thats why you can make more money on part outs.

problem is.. economy is so tuff right now.. that the market is being flooded with cheap bikes.. which lowers the value of everything.. Not to mention people dont have 10k sitting in a bank to buy with.. Banks will only lend what the blue book value is.. Thats why its better to part a bike then sell it outright.

I have had 4 different banshees, from 87-01'..All had aftermarket parts, blings and other special things.Stock frame and swingers. I sold everyone of them for around 3500.I could have parted them for a minimum of 4.5k.

It really depend how long you want to wait before it sells ,there is a price that people are more than willing to pay, when it gets down to that,it will sell quick. I built the last one from scratch and broke even minus the labor hours i invested.

Unless your quad is unique it will be hard to get anything close to what you are looking for.

In this economy I think its pretty hard to recoup the money people are putting in there bikes. Parting them out almost seems to be better right now.

The way I look at it, my bike has more sentimental value to me than its really worth. I wouldn't sell it even for 6K right now, just too much time and parts into it and couldn't let it go.

i think everybody on here has alot of money into their shee, but unless you find someone that knows their shit the averga person only see a banshee that outdated in their minds. Which brings down the value when compared to a new 4-stroke. A banshee in most cases is only worth the after-market parts it has not after-market parts plus what you paid for it too.
