blubyyou
Mods are in my signature. I'm having a hard time getting my shee to shift in 4-5-6 gears under hard acceleration. 1-2-3 shift relatively easy. Could it be I'm making too much power that I need a cut transmission? Bent shift shaft? Need a modded shift shaft with low tension spring? Clutch adjustment? I'm kind of clueless where to start. It will shift into all gears as long as I'm not cranking on it hard. Also neutral seems to be a little tough to find ....maybe that's just me or normal for a banshee. Thanks in advance.

blubyyou
Well the bike was mx'd before, sold to a 17 year old kid that trashed the bike and motor. He had no money to fix it and I scored it for a few hundred bucks, stripped it and built it like new. I was thinking maybe the transmission was worn too. It's a shame I didn't catch it before and just fix it. Now I gotta tear it down again lol. If I get the gears cut my question is can I get it cut for my riding style? I want to be able to upshift and downshift whenever I need/want to. I ride xc/ woods and need to be able to shift it like a stock transmission. Who can do this for me or am I asking for too much? blubyyou
Also would a worn shift shaft cause this ...would a modded shift shaft and low tension spring maybe cure this? I have a modded shift star now. I would rather be able to fix it without splitting the cases again if possible.
NYUK
it sounds like just the adjuster. before you go tearing the motor apart adjust the eccentric bolt at the shift shaft.see if that helps.
blubyyou
I thought I had it centered up pretty good...should I try to adjust it more to one side or another? I assume as close to dead center as possible. Also is there any way to test it before putting it back together after adjusting it? I hate tearing something down over and over trying to get it right. 421alkybanshee
Call Rob at RDZ, i like my transmission and i can shift either way with what he did to mine, and it is a full overide
blubyyou
I'd love it to shift like stock and beat on it hard...and still upshift at WOT without the clutch sometimes. This would be the ultimate set up for me. I guess I will give the shift shaft mod a try from FAST, adjust the acentric screw at the same time. If this fails...then I will call up one of the above guys and get one cut...I had a perfectly good tranny I gave away, should have kept it for a core to send out so I would've had very little down time lol

blubyyou
99% of the time I use the clutch...I was just thinking it would be nice to be able to up shift under WOT sometimes without clutching. Not a huge deal to me. As long as I can shift up and down through all the gears I'm happy lol.
blubyyou
Coryv4...that sounds like what I'm looking for. If the modded shift shaft and acentric adjustment don't fix this I'm going to look into this mod for sure!

Rotax Raptor
Jeff, take the stator cover off and check to see if the shift fork shaft is poking out of the case. I had the clip come off of the front shift fork shaft and allowed the shaft to move outward. It had the same symptom you're having. Unfortunately, you have to split the cases to replace a 25 cent part.
camatv
xc woods riding will eat an override right up. you need a stock modded trans the shift shaft will help a lil bit a cut star will help a lil bit but untill you actually fix the real problem it will never shift right. a dog cut on the gears is what you need. it will be a 6 speed, neutral will be in the stock location, you can backload it all day long just like stock you can land from jumps hard and it not bend a shift fork ( NO override can do that) you can be ona hill roll backwards, shift down and then get back on the power and go back up the hill ( this can also damage an override even duneable) get the correct trans for what you need.
