wont shift into 4-5-6 gears

Recommended Posts

Mods are in my signature. I'm having a hard time getting my shee to shift in 4-5-6 gears under hard acceleration. 1-2-3 shift relatively easy. Could it be I'm making too much power that I need a cut transmission? Bent shift shaft? Need a modded shift shaft with low tension spring? Clutch adjustment? I'm kind of clueless where to start. It will shift into all gears as long as I'm not cranking on it hard. Also neutral seems to be a little tough to find ....maybe that's just me or normal for a banshee. Thanks in advance.

it could possibly be that you have a worn transmission that just cant handle the extra horsepower id get it cut

Well the bike was mx'd before, sold to a 17 year old kid that trashed the bike and motor. He had no money to fix it and I scored it for a few hundred bucks, stripped it and built it like new. I was thinking maybe the transmission was worn too. It's a shame I didn't catch it before and just fix it. Now I gotta tear it down again lol. If I get the gears cut my question is can I get it cut for my riding style? I want to be able to upshift and downshift whenever I need/want to. I ride xc/ woods and need to be able to shift it like a stock transmission. Who can do this for me or am I asking for too much?

I thought I had it centered up pretty good...should I try to adjust it more to one side or another? I assume as close to dead center as possible. Also is there any way to test it before putting it back together after adjusting it? I hate tearing something down over and over trying to get it right.

if all that fails give these guys a call http://www.w-c-r.com/index.htm i am thinking about sending my transmission to them this weekend i guess hes the guy to do you tranny work you can get all sorts of tranny combos what i am having him do is a N down 1-4 overide with manual 5th and 6th. they also do a mod where the cut the little dogs on the tranny and it makes it work just like stock except it goes into gear alot smoother and easier

I'd love it to shift like stock and beat on it hard...and still upshift at WOT without the clutch sometimes. This would be the ultimate set up for me. I guess I will give the shift shaft mod a try from FAST, adjust the acentric screw at the same time. If this fails...then I will call up one of the above guys and get one cut...I had a perfectly good tranny I gave away, should have kept it for a core to send out so I would've had very little down time lol

that is never good for a tranny that is stock cut if you want it to last use the clutch but wcr cuts a tranny that you can WOT with out the clutch its like a dunable but more suitable for trail and play

Coryv4...that sounds like what I'm looking for. If the modded shift shaft and acentric adjustment don't fix this I'm going to look into this mod for sure!

its quite a bit of money tho 300 for a core exchange and 450 to just buy it but its all worth it in the end

xc woods riding will eat an override right up.

you need a stock modded trans the shift shaft will help a lil bit a cut star will help a lil bit but untill you actually fix the real problem it will never shift right. a dog cut on the gears is what you need.

it will be a 6 speed, neutral will be in the stock location, you can backload it all day long just like stock you can land from jumps hard and it not bend a shift fork ( NO override can do that) you can be ona hill roll backwards, shift down and then get back on the power and go back up the hill ( this can also damage an override even duneable)

get the correct trans for what you need.
