this may be a dumb question but i was wondering if there are any shorty pipes being made for a banshee i loved the sound of an fmf shorty silencer or a pro circut shorty on my bikes i used to have and would like to know if its been done on a banshee and what kind of power gin or loss i would have?

I don't think there are necessarily any shorty silencers being made, but shortening the silencer is pretty easy.

I shortened a set of Rocket silencers about 4" back when I ran them.

Take the end cap off. Pull out the tube/packing. Cut the tube off however much you want. Cut off the aluminum part of the silencer the same amount. Then reassemble.

what kind of power differences did you see when you did that? and did it make a noticeable sound difference?

I would recomend keeping your silencers long. We have a big enough fight to keep riding areas open without more idiots running around with obnoxious bikes damaging our reputation. When I went to the longer Cascade CSFX silencers on my bike I did not notice any power loss over the shorter silencers I had been running, so I don't think there is much power to be gained by a shorter silencer, the length of the expansion chamber is more important.

No power gain or loss. You're only removing a few inches at most. No noticeable sound difference.

He won't gain or lose anything but cutting off a couple inches. If the packing is good, the sound difference will be minimal. I did mine for looks.

Well he comes off as a kid who thinks loud pipes are cool and we don't need more of those running around! Most of them don't ever repack their silencers!

Sorry, you sound like a kid who is more worried about how his bike sounds than having an enjoyable place to ride and a nice quiet bike to keep it that way. I personally hate loud raspy sounding bikes andthe people that think they are cool. A fast quiet bike is way more impressive than a loud fast bike.

its fine i know what you mean where i ride ther is a kid with a 125 who thinks its cool to run his bike with just his expansion chamber and no silencer now thats annoying, i do like the loud tone and would like to have that on my banshee i currently have right now, where i ride there are no sound laws so i wont ruin anything for anyone but i also dont want something thats so loud its just annoying im going for the sound my old kx had with an fmf gnarly pipe and an fmf shorty on it i loved that bike

shortening the silencer on a 2 cylinder banshee will NOT give it the bark that your old 250 had only CC increases will do that.

kinda like trying to make a 4 cyl honda sound like a big block chevy by making the pipe on the car bigger.. we all know what that sounds llike.
