Best way we've found lol Gasoline genneraly smokes when you set it on fire. Pour a little in to a metal cup and set it on fire. If their is an oil residue left then it is mixed. If their is an oil residue left then it is mixed. I guess I forgot to add that part too. We do it on concrete and it leaves a residue if it has oil in it. I usually just pour some in a cup and if it has oil the oil with remain after the gas evaporates. Some oil has a tint to it so you can see that it has been added. SheezFast02 Posted July 10, 2011 Report Share Posted July 10, 2011 Run it through your lawnmower. I run all my old bad gas through my lawnmower, mixed or not lol. If it smokes, you've got mixed fuel. Mix oil with new gas, remove a few ounces of this mixed gas and put it in a clear jar. Step 4. Remove a few ounces of the unknown-mixed gas and put it in a clear jar. Step 5.
