Larry's Shee
Hello and welcome !! Most pipes seem to favor 27.5 pilot. Also, what posistion is your needle clip in. If you get back into carbs might want to clean good. Do them one at a time as parts are different between left and right,
Guest boilermaker
ok i dropped in 290 main ... needle looks to be stock so im guessing its on the middle clip... 25 pilot still.. seems to scream at wot now, plug still looks a bit black .... i ordered a 27.5 pilot i will try installing it and maybe go up one on the needle... still seems to bog at 1/8 to 1/4 throttle .. hope the needle and pilot fix.... also clean out carbs really good he also did the tors eliminator.. hope to get the bug worked out before this weekend im going riding with buddies.... Guest boilermaker
ok im lost i went with the 290 main and went up one notch on the needle... the clip on the needle was in the middle... so moving the needle clip up one should make it leaner right? anyway i moved clip up one .. did the 290 main and 25 pilot ... went 2 turns out on both carbs for air/fuel screw... now it smokes like a mother and bogs when you hit the throttle... ? seems richer? im so lost... Larry's Shee
First thing is only change one thing at a time. Generally speaking needle clip should be in middle. The more you turn air screw out the leaner it is. Did you put the washer and slosh guard back on main jet? Is it smoking equal out both sides? Do you shake quad before starting to re-mix fuel after it sits for a day or two? Gas evaporates quickly in hot weather, might have had oil and no gas in bowl when you tried it last. Try putting needle back in middle notch and 1 1/2 turns on screw. When you try it next time see if you can pull choke halfway while trying 1/8-1/4 throttle. if it seems better youre lean at that point. Is it a sputtering type bog or flat bog? Guest boilermaker
290 main need clip leaned a little on second notch. Air screw 1 1/2 turns out. Slides in the right carb lol, and she screams. Even wheelies off the line now. What a difference
