right side not firing properly and the outcome

ok peeps, i need some advice. ive searched and found some leads on where to start for my problem. i did all the obvious from switching the wires from different sides to taking the right side carb and thoroughly cleaning and found no issues. check athe choke tube got new spark plugs and yada yada yada. did all the obvious that i could and still just wouldnt hold idle. left side fires great. the spark is also good on right side just doest fire all the time. the one thing that i couldnt do was check the compression. so i broke down and took to shop. when the guy rode it he said it was no way that its running off one cylinder cause he said it has balls. but clearly when i first started that he could see that it was on one cylider. anyway he called me later and said that he checked the compression and the left side which is the good side was 120 while the right side was 100. i havent seen to often up here where both sides were that different. so i have a few questions.. could that be right? and would that cause one cylinder to not fire properly? and what would cause one cylinder to be that much lower than the other. one more thing that i was curious about is that he said he richened the left side needle to compensate for the loss power on the right side. does that sound right? sorry for the long post just wanted to be as accurate as possible. thanks...so what yall think?

It's time for a rebuild partner! I'm not sure why your mechanic richened the left side to compensate for the right. An air leak on the right crank seal or intake could be the cause of the problem and yes this would effect the firing on that cylinder.

If you can't fix it yourself , use a site sponser or someone you trust to do the work.

and by u saying using one of the site sponsers u mean if they were in driving distance right?

nope.....our site sponsors are the cats ass. if you just need a rebuild then just send them the jugs and they'll send you back what you need. Want to get your engine cases ported so that it will match a port job that your jugs have.....send the cases and jugs out. or if you have no idea about rebuilding the motor at all then find a friend and pull the motor out of the frame and you can actually mail your whole motor to any site sponsor for repairs.......

 

trust me....every one of their abilities is amazing....you will not be disappointed.

for starters someone who jets each carb different is an idiot.get that back from the shop and start over.go buy a good compression guage not a harbor freight.start it,get warm and check each cyl with throttle wide open.kick as many times as u can till u dont pull any higher psi on guage.if u are more than 10 out its prob time for rebuild.could be caused by lean condition burned rings up etc. and can be from crank seal,intake gasket,etc.air leaks or lean jetting cause lean conditions.are ur carbs synched???make sure the pilot jet on right side is clean,that will cause a no/rough idle and synch will also screw this up.have u recently repacked silencers?got any packing in the way of exhaust???could have broken reeds flooding out cylinders at low rpm.lots of things to check.

Any of you have any luck with this? I have identical symptoms as the original post...

 

Took this '04 Banshee out to Little Sahara Sand Dunes in NW Oklahoma that I found on Craigslist - Ran great all day Saturday & Sunday morning, but became sluggish around noon. Packed it in & returned home to rebuld the carburetors, new coil, new plugs, and new plug wires/caps. Starts up on first/second kick, but will not idle without some throttle. I can make it around the block by getting on the gas, but when I get back to the house the right exhaust is still cold to the touch while I wouldn't dare touch the left.

 

The part that baffles me is that while riding the short distance around the block, there is a normal amount of smoke coming out of the left pipe, but the smoke on the right does not have any smoke most of the time - Very few intermittent puffs would come out when I got on the gas hard. I could feel light air pressure leaving the pipe when there wasn't any smoke - Not sure if that means anything or not.

Okay new info: I just pulled off the air filter, and started her up while looking into the carbs - I am not getting fuel blown up the carb on the right. I have already removed, torn down, completely cleaned, and re-installed both carbs since this problem started so I dont know what to do. Any idea as to what is malfunctioning in the carb?

Aright, I took the carb apart, and cleaned everything thoroughly - I am confident my fuel is flowing properly now, because i can definitely tell a difference when I look in the carb & the way she sounds. She starts on the first kick and will idle fine, but the crazy part is that the left muffler will begin to eat up normally while the right muffler stays cold to the touch. I am stumped...

So I appartently jacked up a plug messing with it - New plugs and she runs great! Now I need to address the clutch......... While in 1st gear she tries to go even with the clutch pulled in all the way - Has done this for quite some time, but has steadily gotten worse. Any thoughts?
