mike0chek
hey guys new to the site as i just bought a modded 2001 banshee. A friend and i just rebuilt the top end and it works great. Now i'm really considering putting in the 4 mill hotrod crank in it and had a few questions. from the research ive done i can tell the engine case does not require trenching for this so im ok there. the cylinder i am running now has 6 hours porting done to it (at least thats what i was told from the guy i got it from, who had several bikes and seemed very educated) now what i need to know is will the 4 mill kit perforn well if the cylinder is not ported exactly for the 4 mill setup? the other thing is which would better better to use if i did use my existing ported head: a spacer plate or stroker domes? or would i need both? some info would be greatly appreciated
Debo
The best thing to do is talk to the builder that ported the cylinders if you can. My old 350 had some extensive porting and we dropped a +4 in it with mo problems. But you should find out for sure before doing so. Your best bet for the head is to run a cool head with domes set up for your application. Stroker, compression, etc. With that you won't need a spacer plate. Good luck with the build! dirtydownunder
you should get it ported for the 4mm, theres no point doing it other wise. if your porting now is towards a dune port, then they might not be able to be ported for a 4mm. ask the guy that did the porting if the cylinders will be able to cross over to a 4mm setup. a cool head with stroker domes would be the better option. mike0chek
thx guys, ive already got a coolhead on it but not sure what size domes, and bikes been through a few people since the porting was done so i doubt i can track him down so by the sounds of what u guys are saying is if the porting is too different from what the new crank needs i wont see a performance gain? 06specialedition
Do it right the first time and give a site sponsor on here a call. I've personally ridden 3 Wildcard Racing built 4mil's and they run top notch. Any sponsor on here will build you a sweet bike
mike0chek
thanks guys i got an understanding now . i can see myself buying the whole cheetah kit eventually with the properly ported jugs, was looking for a cheaper way out but thats ok haha
4MiLLDraGSheE
Yeah site sponsor a call. When i went to a four mill i bought new cylinders and had them ported by herr jugs and whoever does it will most likely ask all your information right down to what fuel and what pipes your running. Also dont forget the cut domes and if its a stroker new pistons too.
mike0chek
ya i hear lots of great things about those guys, my biggest issue is im located in canada so mailing across the boarder can get expensive fast thats wuts been holding me back from just ordering the kit (jugs and all)
volcrano
since u dont know what porting it is ud have to go with a shortrod crank and use spacer plate for ur ports to line up.so ur not really adding horesepower maybe gaining a lil torque.the way to do it is long rod crank with 513 pistons, ported to the port height for the 4mm by a pro and have the cut stroker domes to actually build a fast motor right.
