252wheelieking
I need some advice in how to remove broken pressure plate bolt from inner clutch hub. I over tighten the clutch pressure plate bolt & it broke off in the inner clutch hub. Thanks in advance.
bansheesandrider
With a drill and an E Z Out. Odds are you will ruin the hub because it is soft aluminum and the screw is harder steel. You could take it to a machine shop, but by the time you pay them, you could probably just buy a new one. Depending on how flat it broke and how good you are with a center punch, if you are very careful you should be able to drill it and extract it. Make sure you use the correct special screws from Yamaha and I would STRONGLY recomend a torque wrench when you put it back together. Good luck. lms1977
Take your time when you drill and ez out center the drill the best you can. This way you could use a Heli coil kit if you could find one but it would cost as much as a good use part, but would get you up and running today. Also after you drill and make sure the ez out will fit, take the ez out back out and heat out the alum slightly trying to lightly expand it so the screw comes out. Hope this helps good luck and don't heat it up to much.
252wheelieking
Thanks for the help guys. I'm going to try it both ways & still buy a good used inner cltch hub for back up. The driveline dune/trail clutch kits are most def. worth every penny. I installed that clutch kit with only 5 tusk springs, cause one the bolts broke off in the inner clutch hub. It still pulls hard without slipping at all. I can't wait to get my new hub & install 3 driveline springs & 3 tusk springs.
KlotzBanshee
Dude, A new stock inner hub is like 35 bucks and pressure plate even less. Get a grinder and cut that shit off. Then just go buy a new one, it's not worth fixing the messed up one imo. I mean...we're not talking about a high dollar Hinson or anything are we? No it's a stocker....I brought another one from a BHQ member.....At first I didn't know the value of a new one + I like to see if I could get the bolt out anyway without ruining it. Then I'll have a good used back up one day. Thanks for the help tho.

252wheelieking
why dont you run all 6 driveline springs Long story..... 1st mistake: I installed the clutch kit & springs like it should've been & I overtighten the last pressure plate bolt & broke it off in the inner clutch hub. So I took everything back apart & installed my backup inner clutch hub. 2nd mistake: I put the clutch kit back in & adjusted the clutch bolt & forgot to tighten the 12mm clutch adjuster lock nut. Put it back together & started it & tore up my brand new driveline springs & broke all 6 of the inner clutch hub tabs. Lucky I didnt riun my clutch fibers..... So I just used the inner clutch hub with the broken bolt stuck in it & installed my 5 tusk springs. Unbelieveably it held up under hard accelleration without slipping. I couldn't believe it still held up. I ordered new springs from driveline & a good used inner clutch hub from a BHQ member, so when it all get here Im going to redo it carefully this time. My wife said I was to anxious & I was....
