Sniper Racing Products has designed a simple idle circuit kit that will allow adjustment of the idle air / fuel ratio on Lectron carburetors without having to move the metering rod or idle slide screw. The kit simplifies tuning Lectron carburetors by 100%. Normally, the correct tapered metering rod has to be adjusted to within 1/4 turn for optimum performance. With the newly designed Sniper Racing kit, it will only have to be within two turns. Then, it can be adjusted in with the idle screw.

The kit will include screws, springs, drill bits, a tap and instructions for easy installation.

Kit installs by simply drilling two different size holes in the carburetor body (using supplied drill bits) and then using the supplied tap to cut threads in the carburetor body.

Many people know Lectron carbs are very temperamental to tune in. Therefore, Sniper Racing Products has now simplified the tuning process.

1 carb setup- ($32)

2 carb setup- ($42)

The idle kit will allow adjustment of the idle air / fuel ratio and just off idle, it will not effect high Rpm's where the power-jet comes in.

The Lectron carb metering rod will only stop in four slots when adjusting. The idle screw will allow adjustment anywhere between the four slots, giving fine tuning ability for idle quality. This will allow the metering rod to be adjusted for mid-range performance to be crisp and clean, without having to supply the correct air / fuel ratio at idle.

Sometimes when the metering rod is tuned to come on the pipe clean, the slide screws will not raise the slide far enough for a quality idle. This is another time when the idle circuit really helps because it will meter fresh air coming in through the choke horn that it normally would not have to blend out the idle

We have been modifying all of our Lectron carb's with this kit for over 20 years. Adding this kit to carb's that are already tuned in will allow for even finer tuning of the idle and mid-range.

this is a neat idea. and it should work very well. i have noticed on gas lectrons this problem either i feel the idle is a lil to lean or a lil to rich BUT the mid and off idle is excellent. usually this would take needles to fix but then you can have other problems in other area's..

I can't really tell whats going on in these pics. Is that new screw opening/closing an orifice in the carb body (acting like an air screw on other brands of carbs)? Or is it just an idle screw? Mine already have idle screws (that I don't use.) I'm not doubting the idea, just do know what it's doing to allow fine tuning between the notches in where the needle has to rest. I understand that raising/lowering the needle for tuning will also affect the idle. I need some more clarification, I guess.

Yeah the Lectrons I have seen already have idle screws.

Looks to me like you are creating an air screw. Very good idea if thats drawing filtered air and adding it just like an air screw. Seems reasonably priced too for a set.

Yes Rainman56, if you have a working choke, the kit allows you to run the metering rods two turns rich and allows the idle to be fully adjusted from the secondary idle screws. If you can bottom out the idle slide screws and still not get the engine to idle up high enough for a good stable idle and you have to lower the metering rods so low it stumbles in the midrange to get a good idle, this kit will work very well for you.

The need for this kit is much higher on gas than alcohol, many new Lectron carbs ordered for a four stroke engine will come with similar screws already installed for easy idle adjustment.

On a first time tune on gas and alcohol, this kit will save tuning time be allowing the engine to run and idle perfectly with less metering rod adjustments.

Does your choke still work after the installation of this kit?

Oh yea, it just pulls a very small amount of air from the choke horn. Some of the older Lectrons did not have chokes and or the holes drilled that feed the choke, that's why I mentioned a working choke.

Ok, i see, in your pics the choke was removed, so i didnt know if it would be that way installed on the bike or not.  This definitely could be handy. On gas my bike idled pretty good where the needles were set from packard, however right off idle it bogged.  Leaning out the needle fixed that but then it felt lean in the middle.  Im assuming this kit would fix that.

need a different needle.  in all reality.   if you can get nice midle range BUT the idle loads up or is a tad rich these in essence could solve that problem

on another note.  i have seen SOOOOOOOOOOO many issues with motors, electrics, installation problems< contributed to bad jetting.
