Can I Cut These Wires Off?

EZ-GO

Recommended Posts

Sup Guys, I am cleaning up my wire harness wile im rebuilding my motor. Can I cut these wires that the previous owner just taped up. It looks like the plastic wire connectors, probably something to do with the tors removal or something. There are actually 4 white connectors that are no longer connected to anything. I just want to cut the white wire connectors off and tape up the wires so these things are not hanging, and most of the wires then will be concentrated to one main run from cdi to handlebars and motor.

Thanks,

EZ

Yup chop them off.

But use some heat shrink tubing to make it cleaner then using black tape.

Theres alot of stuff that can be cut off, like the key switch, head light, tail light and the rear brake switch as well.

Or what ever else you don't want.

Then you can wire in a smaller kill switch like a KTM or CR one for a cleaner look.

Cool, ya ill just heat shrink em. Mostly everything I want removed is.. I located the key under the seat, the smaller kill switch though would be cool to change when I do all my levers. The wire from the brake lever was just grounded to body but not running anywhere else so I should be good on just removing that as well. Also the wire from the throttle assembly just is looped back to itself the two wires are just taped together.. not sure why but I want to clean it all up.

Thanks for the help,

Pull all the tape off the harness and cut the wires completly out. That is what I did with mine.

Ya guess it wouldnt hurt just to get them all out of there.. ill take all the tape off and check all the wires and redo it.. should be nice and clean when its done.

Yea that is what I did. All the black with white stripe wires tie in to each other. There will be a crimp where they all come together. Just snip them off their. I also took the wiring from the stator to the cdi out of the wiring harness and kept them seperate. I didnt cut them or any thing just re wraped them seperatly.

Removed the lighting circut and remade one out of heavier gauge wire with rubber covered toggle switches mounted to a plate bolted on the rear fuel tank bolts.

Removed the handle bar head light / kill switch and installed a Honda CR125 push button kill switch.

So there is one white connector that I have no idea where it went or what it does. It has a Green w/ yellow stripe wire and a black one . The clymers manual diagram shows no green wire with a yellow stripe anywhere.. yet this wire runs all the way from this plug to the cdi.. the other end of this plug however is allready gone cuz I cant see it anywhere.

I can post a picture if needed.

Thanks,

Green/yellow is the park brake rev limiter. Cut it at the CDI end of the harness and make sure it doesn't short to ground. 02-06 schematic is on page 378 in the Clymer.

Or do it the right way and use a T pin and remove the conector from the harness plug.

yup, unwrap your harness, and completely remove the yellow/black wire(s) and their connectors, allong with the green/yellow wire. personally, i would like to leave 3-4" length of the extra black/white wire for the option of connection a kill/tether to it later. good spot for a hidden kill switch. as for getting rid of the keyswitch, the bike will not run without the black/red wire grounded, so keep that in mind with whatever you want to do....

Ya I just relocated the ignition under the seat, behind tank.

Thanks again,
