just no power

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I just bought my son a 2002 Banshee. The engine makes no funny noises or doesn't smoke, starts on first or second kick every time. The problem he is having is when he gives it more than half throtel the engine starts to back fire and it misses real bad. the carbs still have the TORS on them,I ordered the kit take them off today. If any one has any ideas I'll suer listen to them. The engine has never been in to pro citcut exhaust is the only non stock add ons. We changed spark plugs clean air filter befors he went to ride yesterday with no results. Any ideas?

What are the carb settings? Pilots, mains and air-screw adjustment?

We haven't pulled the carbs apart yet. I'm going to wait untill the TORS kit comes in this week before I take them apart. Any help on basic carb settings would be a great help. We are at about 3500 feet,

On the left side of the bike at the front underside of the gas tank, you will find a little module that has a plug with a couple wires. This is the tors control module. Unplug it and start it. If it runs right the prob is the tors adjustment. Then you will know the eliminator kit will solve the problem. You can run with it unplugged if you choose.

My guess it's too rich, same thing happens with my blaster with out tors and great compression, I just bumped the main down some ended up with a 145 from a 155 you won't go this low because I had a 35 pwk but you should be in the 250-270 range
