figjam
Hey guys! Whassup? I purchased donkeypuncher's hjr dune ported jugs (you can see the dyno sheet in the dyno room if you want to) a while back and will be adding them to my banshee in the next few weeks. I have dmc 916 pipes, filter, reeds and noss head with 21cc domes at the moment. Ordering some new pistons and fast clutch from FAST..... So I am going to change the gearing. I was thinking 15/41 or 15/40. I'm running 22" rears. What do you guys think what be the best gearing. I ride hard packed and dunes mostly. Is there anything else you think I need??? Thanks in advance!!! Fig
robert.b.west
I think that you would be happiest with stock gearing (14/41) especially on sand and with 22" tires. Maybe move to a 15 up front for hard packed but not even sure about that.
06specialedition
I like stock gearing, but thats all personal preference. The only other thing I suggest doing is getting your crank trued and welded. In my opinion the piece of mind is worth alot.
toytech
I run 15/41 with 20 inche tires
figjam
Thanks for the replies guys. Think I'll try 15/41. Anybody else some input?? Something I've overlooked maybe?
fastbanshee8
15/41 with 22" paddles is going to be a lot of gear to pull. I run 15/40 with 20" haulers, and a 4 mil stock cylinder.
figjam
my 22" are not paddles, they're dirt tyres. Still think 15/41 is wrong??
robert.b.west
I run a 15/41 on my 421 serval with 20" tires and I like the way it feels. Yes it is sand so it is a little different. I say try both 14/41 and and 15/41 see what you like. Front sprockets are only like $9.
figjam
Hmm you sure my gears aren't gonna be too short with stock gearing??
robert.b.west
I would not say i am sure because it is personal preference to a point. I would say get a 14 and 15 tooth front and see what you like better. Front sprockets are cheaper than rears and changing 1 tooth in the front is like changing ~3 in the rear.
