okbeast
Best bang for your buck is porting. You have alot of the supporting mods already so that's good.
robert.b.west
Those two types of riding are at the opposite end of the spectrum. Much different setups. You can have a good trail bike that you drag race but not going to be great(not nearly the fastest). But I think it is going to be harder to have a good drag bike and take it trail riding. I have had pods with outerwears on mine for a long time now. I have never had an issue with water while riding.(I take them off while trailering and cap the carbs) We even water skim and no issues so far. robert.b.west
best mod would be to buy a 450 for the trails then make your banshee drag only. you really cant drag and trail ride the same banshee. I would say build a trail bike and drag it if you want to do both. If you trail ported and got some 28pwks and a coolhead. Maybe different pipes(I dont know much about sst's). It would be a much faster quad and still be good on the trails. By far porting is the best bang for your buck though.
05Twin350
I would definitely go with some type of porting.. It really is the best bang for your buck and that will bring your supporting mods together. Also consider some gearing as well.
BigRed350x
Hit up kevin at Herr Jugs Racing for a low end port job. He does some awesome work and you won't be disappointed. Give him a call and tell him what kinda riding you want to do and what your current mods are and he will hook you up.

BansheeTeam
I run the same mods but have a different pipe Toomey T5 and I love it however i've heard good things about the SST's although their not as good as the Toomey's. What main jets do you currently run and what jets are you planing on running with the pods? Cause i have 270 mains with a single K&N with airbox lid no snorkel runs slightly rich it should've had a 260 but i've installed the 270's so that i can advance my timing to +4 i've installed the timing plate but not yet moded it to notice if they'll be any difference or not. However i just installed the dual K&N pods with outerwear and i'll rejet to 280's first and test them out however i think i might need to go up to 300 maybe 310 what do you guys think I haven't got the chance to try it out yet. Btw i'm at sea level what your elevation? To get more power i'd recommend getting a Pro-Design cool head with 21cc domes you'll be fine with pump gas with the 21cc dome thats my next mod also for more power search for a bigger better carb. On the other hand porting will be the best bang for the buck. Also depending where you ride I would jet my front fenders trimmed for better cooling, looks, air dynamic. Only disadvantage is if your riding behind your buddies in a rocky terrain and they toss rocks at you. Good luck with you banshee --------------------------------------------- 2006 Yamaha Banshee with: Toomey T5 pipes/headers, VF3 Reeds, K&N Pods with Dynojet 280's, +4 Timing, Renthal handelbars, Trail Tech Vapor, DND 2.5" rear spacer, Monster graphics by Nono design and custom paint job. sprinklerman
Have Redline build you a 4mm stock cyl. We have one that runs a airbox and stock carbs ( which id think you'd want for trails) but MORE than holds its own at the strip. The only thing on that bike that wouldnt work for you on the trails is the +4 swingarm. It has yet to have a pump gas motor or a 4 stroke get within an reasonably competitive distance. ( When i say 4 stroke, i mean built ones with cams, athena cyls, stroker cranks and running race fuel , 14-15:1 compression, setup for drag racing)
fastbanshee8
I run the same mods but have a different pipe Toomey T5 and I love it however i've heard good things about the SST's although their not as good as the Toomey's. --------------------------------------------- 2006 Yamaha Banshee with: Toomey T5 pipes/headers, VF3 Reeds, K&N Pods with Dynojet 280's, +4 Timing, Renthal handelbars, Trail Tech Vapor, DND 2.5" rear spacer, Monster graphics by Nono design and custom paint job. That statement is pure speculation, and personal preference. I used to run FMF Fatties, and I beat a lot of bikes with Toomey's on them, so the pipe manufacturer isn't all that matters. It depends a lot, on the supporting mods.
toytech
when you make a shee faster they use more fuel, so you can't go far trail riding. At some point they become dune drag bikes only.
shanYE west
you can log a lot of miles with a modded motor.. I'd get 2-3 hours in the trails with my dune build and still have fuel left. The bike wasn't very fun to ride in the woods though. Trails and drag racing are on opposite ends of the spectrum.. So you need to pick which side you want to be on. trickedcarbine
Trail and drag are pretty different styles of riding. That is like saying " I wanna build a top fuel funny rally car". If you mean you want a potent motor that you can ride in trails and yet still blast your buddies in the open straights, look in to a good dune style set up. If you set up the entire package properly then you will be more then happy in trails and there should be no shortage of straight line thrills.
