28 pwk problems one pipes hot others cold

Recommended Posts

I'm having so much trouble jetting my pwks one pipe has always been hot other cold to touch. Resync the carbs they were off a bit... But when did that it made the one pipe that was always hot even hotter n the other pipe is still cold. Even the exhaust coming out the tail pipes is the same one boiling hot other cold. No matter wht I do can't change this any ideas. There is no air leaks ect. My leftside hot cylinder the jetting is almost perfect. The right cylinder always reads rich when set up the same way. Wtf I've tried everything...

swap plug wires and see if the problem moves. Jetting doesn't mean jack if you're running on one cylinder. I had a similar prob when I rebuilt my engine and my pilots and needles were lean.

Swapped plug boots same outcome swapped idle screws around also as one is slightly bent and causes to idle higher. Right pipe did warm up a bit left stayed the same I maybe tripping... Cylinders r even temps tho. Both cylinders have even spark tested that also. Gonna run bike as is left cylinder reading slightly leaner then rich right side just dialing air screws accordingly. Every test everything I tried changing has been negative so time to test it out in the sand.

ya float height could definitely affect it. pretty sure its 16mm on those. if it helps any i had the same problem with my 28's. didnt seem to matter what i did i couldnt get them to sync up right at lower rpm. finally fixed them by trading for some 35s. i no you said you checked for air leaks but i woiuld make sure the carb tops are sealed up good also.

  • 3 weeks later...

i thought it was 19mm for 28pwks

19mm is Correct for 28-30 PWK

16mm for 33-39 PWK

All PJ's are 16mm as well.
