Oversized Aftermarket Radiator

Recommended Posts

Anyone have problems with boiling and loosing your coolant. I am using the cap that came with it and i will loose almost half my coolant on a two hour ride. The cap that came with it is a .9 and the stock is a 1.1. Any thoughts guys? I don't like the thought of my radiator being half empty during a ride.

I bought the alum radiator on eBay from a US company that I believe to be known in the industry. Just cant think of the name. I know there has been a debate about them before.

its possible. it happened to me and i never noticed until the radiator was damn near empty since being a 2 stroke it smokes aways.

do you run a coolant bottle? if not rig one up and go rip around to see if it fills up.

What radiator cap are some of you running on your built bikes? I had a .9 which is like 13.05 psi. I am going to run the stock one which is a 1.1 that is 15.95 psi. If I understand correctly, built motors will create more pressure in the cooling system because it revs higher. Checking everything again to night.

Is that typical of a built bike?

Yes it is the heat that builds more pressure, not more RPMs, the water pump is not that efficient of a pump that more RPM will build more pressure. A built motor generates more heat, because to make power you burn more fuel and when you burn more fuel you release more energy which is more heat.

You think that's it or do you think I am burning it off too. I find it hard to believe I could be burning it in the cyl.

correct me if i'm wrong, but if you were burning the coolant in your cylinders, wouldn't that make your spark plugs white? also, fyi, i know "Engine Ice" is a special coolant that supposedly lowers temps on engines up to 50 degrees. I've heard nothing but good things about Engine Ice, and it's only $20 for a gallon
