rileyrs
alright so my shee isn't runnin right and i decided its time to try and get it all tuned up here is my setup: .50 over motor trinity stage 2 race porting and swirl cut head toomey t3 pipes and keihin 34mm pj carbs so the problem is that it seems to bog when you go and hit the throttle, it cuts out at high rpms almost like its losing spark, or similiar to a super lean condition. but then it also smokes when shut off, pipes are pretty oily, and the plugs are always wetish whenever you pull them out, after idle, wot, half throttle, whatever. its running a 40 pilot and 118 main, and im at about 3500-5000 ft depending on where i ride does that jetting sound right? is this a coil or cdi problem possibly, so im not burning all the fuel due to weak spark, and thats why it seems rich but also cuts out? what could be going on any help would be great. armyvet
yeah i would think 118 is way lean, youll blow that thing up.Even at 50,000ft elevation that would be lean..lol i ran a 180 main or so on my trininty single carb set up a couple yrs back here in oh. rileyrs
awesome, thanks for the pointers, i picked up a 148 pilot, and 168 mains today (thats what the shop here had) so i will start there, and see if i can fine tune it from that point. thanks for the help
Burt Reynolds
42 or 45 pilot 165-175 mains. Do they even make a 118 main for keihin pj's?
rileyrs
i threw in the 168's and that seems WAY rich, wouldn't even rev up hardly, and almost stalled trying to ride wide open. dropped to a 160 still rich, 150, and its feels like its getting closer, but still has very little power at top end. should i go for a 140 next or is there some other problem going on here? the 48 pilot feels great though, idles perfect and has great throttle response. pr0blumz
You should do a plug chop at 150 and take it from there. From 150 to 140 is a big jump when you haven't done a chop yet.
