kodie
I got an 03 5.7 ram hemi. Anyone out there run tuners on gas motors? I was looking at the diablosports predator ones and just wanted to know if anyone has any info on what improvements happened to their trucks. I am getting ready to put a cold air intake, headers, and a cat back magnaflow on it.
jbirdshee
i have an 05 hemi ram with intake, exhaust, and hypertech programmer. to be honest i did notice a small difference in power but nothing huge. ( i would not pay full price for a hypertech again thats for sure) no better fuel mileage that i noticed but i do drive hills constantly, so your outcome could be different. overall i like the additions but nothing has been all that impressive. gotta_goatsfast
For my Ford I use an SCT X3 with a custom program. IMO the preprogrammed stuff is almost worthless compared to someone who can write a tune to compliment other parts such as intakes, exhausts, ect... There is a power difference, but one of the reasones I REALLY like mine is because of how the transmission shifts. Its precise, firm, and really shines when hard on the accellerator or when towing. What mpg are you averaging? Did you notice anything with the intake?
jbirdshee
What mpg are you averaging? Did you notice anything with the intake? high 12's low 13's. really shit. at first my mpg jumped up to around 14 when i put the intake on but it dropped right back down after maybe a month. but it seemed like thats what happened when i did all of these upgrades. not sure whats up with that. really just pisses me off
locogato11283
I just ordered a Predator for my Jeep SRT8. Supposed to be good for 20-25HP. I will be setting it up for 91 octane and a cold air intake. Guess we will see if I feel anything because I am installing the Predator and the CAI at the same time. okbeast
If you can get a custom tune, it will be hands down better. I'm not sure if non GM based vehicles can be tuned though. Edited March 31, 2011 by okbeast
06BCBANSHEE
Made a world of diferance on my 02 mustang GT. I had the diablo predator tune. 93 octane performance tune. I was able to adjust my gear ratio, select what mods i had done etc. gave me better gas mileage even o the performance tune. Was one of the top 3 mods I did to the stang. and it was heavily modified

06specialedition
The hypertech on my silverado 5.3L didn't do much. Not worth it IMO.
okbeast
The hypertech on my silverado 5.3L didn't do much. Not worth it IMO. Get a custom tuned PCM, I'm tellin' ya it's way better than a programmer.
bigblockbanshee
Got an Edge Evolution on my '04 NBS F150 5.4 3-valve S-CREW. I run the level 2 canned tune most of the time with 87 octane, shift points and firmness altered, and speed correction. If it weren't for being able to tune the transmission and converter too there's no way in hell I'd spend another $320 for that thing. I got 22 mpg twice going down to Pensacola and back with no programmer, just a bone stock truck. Just went down to Cape Canaveral in late February and the best I could muster up was 16 mpg. It took us nearly $400 to go down there and back, financial suicide. They all advertise more fuel mileage but I just don't see how it could be true. In fact I've found it to be the quite the opposite. All of that being said, I think there are much better things you could do to your vehicle aside from wasting money on a programmer. About the only thing mine does now is just look cool and draw attention to unknowing passengers.

It will allow YOU to build the tune, not a lame canned tune... Im pushing 500CHP on pump gas on my 08' Solstice GXP 2.0L DI.. WITH A LITTLE HELP FROM A GARRETT GT-30!! 32MPG OFF THE GAS.... locogato11283
I guess I should update my findings with the Predator in my Jeep SRT8. I installed the tune and CAI at the same time and it really woke the Jeep up. I can tell it adjusted the gearing as it doesn't shift up nearly as fast. If I had to guess, I'd say I got 25-35HP out of the combination of them. It definitely gets up and goes quicker and the power comes on quicker. I spent about $600 on it so I'd say it was worth the money.
theshee
I ran the superchips flashpaq on my 04 Hemi Ram. It had the mopar cold air intake, magnaflow cat back, too. Set of performance mode it ran quite a bit better, made it shift much better.
