how can I tell if my crank has been welded?

Recommended Posts

go out and get yourself a clymers manual.....if it IS welded then by splitting the cases you'll not only know but you will be able to check other things ( to see if anything else has been modified) and you can do the trans mods while your in there. And if its not welded you can easy your mind for when you DO get it running again by sending it out and getting it welded haha.

all honestly its not hard to split the cases. Things that will make your life easier for the job? A fly-wheel puller (make sure you get the correct tool...its only $13) a clutch holding tool to remove the clutch basket and some yamabond case sealant.
