i mean track as in the rubber track that snowmobiles turn to make it go forward. a sled may make 140hp at the crank but then add in clutching and that big ol rubber track(with or with out the 190 or so studs) that has to be turing the HP drops dramaticaly. same goes for banshees, dyno on a regular 2 drum chassis dyno, then swap swing arms to a motorcycle stlye using just a single wheel and drum on the dyno and the numbers will be %15 or so higher because the rotational mass was cut down alot only spinning one tire.

ok, I am with you now! Is there much difference in a sled tracks mass and a light banshee drag axle?

clean your glasses, open your brain, and get your notepad out.. I have built several snomo bike. I will not build it for you over the net but I will get you headed in right dirrection. Your cat jackshaft will work, its 1" eventually you will need to have it cut and keyed but you will have to figure that out on your own.The Jackshaft bearing mounts come from MFGSUPPLY, the shaft psrockets come from MCMASTERCARR they are ANSI 50 with 1/4 key. The rear sprocket can come from sprocket specialties. You can run a 520 rear with and ANSI 50 chain they are the same roll. You HAVE TO HAVE AN OFFSET TOOL FOR THIS TO WORK. you can use 10 or 12 centers from crank to shaft. 12" uses polaris 3211042 belt or similar, the 10 will use a Yamaha belt (I forget the number off my head, they have used it since 87 or earlie) Mount the shaftplates as far back in the chassis as you can, and MAKE SURE THEY ARE SQUARE TO THE AXLE!!! watch your chian clearnace to be sure its not going to hit anything. Then mount the motor so that it is square with BOTH and the proper distance apart 10/12... With these work, yep.. are they a pain in the @#!*% yep... Heres a couple I have done

my rotax was rated at 100hp (twin cyl) it put down 72hp at the tires, and it did luanch good but i was way under powered for all the work i put in it. i got smoked by 4mil cubs.i traded it for a 660 raptor for my wife.

but i bet it costed less to make that then to get a 4mil cub

yeah,i was like you i had a frame and access to a motor.so i used parts from tractor supply. bearing kit for a 1 inch shaft was like 12 dollars.pretty cheap to build.

see thats what im goig for cheap and fast i have 3 secondary clutches setup for different tings i think im going to use the one that kicks in hard but ive been looking i think im goig to make a frame with extended front end did the quad wheelie bad?
