sandracer1986
I have a 97 banshee stock bore welded crank, K&N filters, MSD ignition, V force reeds, TORS removed, stock carbs. I recently added a 1-5 override tranny, CPI oof drag pipes, Cool head with 18 cc domes that bumped my compression up to right at 200 psi per cylinder, advanced the timing 5 degres, im running 114 octane race fuel and my jets are setting at 27.5 and 330. After adding these new things i havent gotten much of a decrease in my e.t just need some advice. Thanks to all in advance. Also my left cylinder seems to be cuttiong out a little its not running as fast as my other or thats what it sounds like i dont know. Phelps
well first off, that high of compression can actually hurt you. yes there is guys running that much, but if i remember right there is not much gain between 185 and 200 yet at 200 you are causing more resistance than needed. you said MSD? as in the whole kit? the box will go +7 degree's and running 114 you could get away with a lot more timing than +5.... what about tires... did you match the new power with bigger/better tires? more power doesn't always mean faster if the bike it's self hasn't been setup for the new power increase. Yes im running a full msd enhancer ignition, box, coil, battery. I can advance it more i just didnt know if there is a line you come too when too much timing will hurt you. I didnt get knew tires because for some reason I cant launch in 2nd gear but I blow em out when I launch in first. ( Not literally)
okbeast
Are you using stock tires? Or knobby tires I mean

A lot of drag racers, myself included have multiple sets of sprockets on hand so they can be swapped according to track conditions.

okbeast
Maybe play with air pressure or gearing. Stock swingarm?

okbeast
You probably don't have any issues wheeling do you? Sounds like not enough tire. Maybe try some 10 paddle haulers. What is your gearing?

okbeast
Well without any porting, your motor doesn't have enough power to launch in second. Maybe try a 13 front sprocket for now and launch in 2nd. Or you could try a lower gearing to make 1st not such a high gear.
