460yfz
485 cheetah, blocked pvs, 39pwk, 3000 ft elevation, needle on middle clip, 150 main, 50 pilot,. it won't idle, if i rev it up it will stay reved up really high with the slides closed? I tried diffent pilots jets 52 and 55 with the 55 it smokes really heavy and wont stay running, with the 52 pilot won't idle if I choke it, it will start and idle really high. its hard to start with any of pilots. how do I know if i have a bad cranck seal or air leak. okbeast
Need to do a leakdown test on it. 50 pilot seems big for it to still hang on idle. Race gas or pump gas I'm guessing?

Boston
sounds like you got a air leak. what condition are your intake boots?
pabansheematt
Your jetting sounds lean for 39mm carbs. I'd say you should be somewhere in the 160-165 range. My next question is, did you buy this from Trinity? How did the domes and head shell fit? There's been alot of problems lately with the 485's. It will say what cc they are. Are you loosing coolant?

Are you loosing coolant? when the engine stayed reved up it started pucking antifreeze through the over flow but I thought that it was because the engine was warm, the engine got sent back the first time becuse the cylinder had a pin hole loosing antifreeze, they said that they fixed it Edited March 2, 2011 by 460yfz

It's been to millenium twice and hasn't been fixed correctly. Not saying Millenium doesn't know what they're doing, they definitely do. Just that it seems like this is a very difficult thing to fix. camatv
if its leaking in a pin hole GET A NEW jugg its is impossible to fix. the casting had a problem i'd say its very hard to diagnose that problem till the motor is together and has coolant pressure on it. if its puking antifreeze out the o-rings are blown or the head is not seated all the way or the o-rings have riped during install ( very very very hard to do on a cheeta) its lean hanging possibly due to contamination in the chamber. get the coolant issuefixed first. then play with jetting. i have a coolant pressure tester that i use i do pressure AND vacume tests if the o-rings look fine. also the o-rings should be brown in color NOT black. 460yfz
thanks for the replys guys, I found the problem. is sucking air between the jug and the crank case you can run a .010 feeler gauge with ease, i bet I can run a thicker one in there. jug is not seating down flat for some reason. bolts are tight. thats trinity at its best. I wish I knew how to post pics, I would take a picture of the gasket material that they put on the fron side of the case, about a 2 inch peace between the jug and case between the two front center bolts. some shaddy ass work

Your domes are still junk. Everybody's 4 mill Trinity motor has junk domes. 485cc's of IED ....I own one too.
