gstaten24
So I've had an issue before with my pods falling off my carb and having to buy new ones. I know what you're gonna say, make sure it's tight on the carb. Well I check it before I go out hut sumtimes I forget. So on to the question, do you guys/gals have any modifications to keep from losing it if for whatever reason it falls off? I was thinking of cutting a very small hole in the outerwear and stickin a ziptie through it and around something on the carb. What do you think? gotta_goatsfast
I've never lost a filter. I just clamp it down until its firm on the mouth of the carburetor and not worry about it. Maybe the flange on your pods are simply too large? I believe the rubber flanges will reduce about 3/8" in diameter of their natural size. After that you're prone to poor clamping and air leaks. lastnline75
are you sure you are using the right size filters? what size carbs do you have? i have never had a filter come off
blue angel
I had one fall off 3 times in one ride, I switched to a wider band clamp and have not had a problem since.
gstaten24
I got stock carbs and the pods that fit stock carbs. It's not like it happens everytime just has happened to me n I'd rather not pay 60 bucks for a filter n outerwear haha. So you're saying to get a smaller clamp? bonerific250
no. he's saying try a wider clamp on the filter. you also might want to try and scuff up the outside of the carbs with a light grit sandpaper to the filters a little more bite. I also run pods and never had 1 fall off.

No don't cut your outerwears... there is a small area just above where the frame comes down and meets the cross member for the shock support... it almost perfectly lines up to the back of the filters...In the past i've used zip ties, but eventually used a long piece of velcro to wrap around the frame and snug up against the back of the filters. Never had a problem after that when I had stock carbs w/ pods
jbooker82
Make sure the carb and filter flanges are free of air filter oil.
Jereme6655
yeah....blue angel has dropped it multiple times....everytime i had to swerve coming around a turn in the trails to avoid flattening it. haha....... Like he said.....we just put a WIDER hose clamp....not a larger diameter one. They fall off because of the force and leverage applied to them given their shapes. I do know some people have made metal brackets that go from the upper frame rails where the seat rests on down to the filter and have used a self-taping screw to fasten the filter to the bracket. Just make sure you don't try and use a small bolt with a nut on the inside of the filter.....it'll vibrate the nut loose and it'll end up in your top end doing the cha-cha tap dance on all of your shit.
