So Cal Suspension
Hello Guys, I need to replace the seal head on my rear shock, is there a how to with pictures you can direct me to? Thanks alot for the help, Rick. I think you will be hard pressed to find a "how-to". The process involves drilling a hole in the shock body, and if you're off as far as 1/4 of a mm, the shock will be trash. Also you will need a needle-fill to recharge the nitrogen. Hi Matt, thanks for the response, I already purchased an all balls seal head kit, I remember seeing a tutorial with pictures a few years ago, and I think I can probably do it, I just need a little guidance, the drilling, if I remember correctly is just to remove the circlip, I dont remember having to drill the shock body, but I may be wrong....I plan to have a local shop refill the nitrogen, so thats no problem, any help you guys can give me will be super appreciated, as I am trying to fix this shock for my son, I am currently not employed, so money is very tight right now, I have no choice but trying to fix this myself. Possibly there is someone else out there that has instructions with pics or can provide me with some help......PLEASE!! Rick.
camatv
does the oem manual have a break down?
So Cal Suspension
Yeah, that tutorial was a disaster. I remember seeing it. I actually wondered if the person writing it had ever actually disassembled a stock banshee shock.

salmon_slayer06
I found this old thread. Can anyone do into detail on why a hole is drilled into the shock? This shock just needs a seal replaced that probably costs a few bucks. I'll be damned if I'm spending 1000's to get new shocks when I just want them to work. Coupelx
If you think the seal is just a couple bucks...stop now.
Coupelx
Also money spent on shocks is money well spent.
m671054
You will fuck up your first one i promise you. the hole is to remove a snap ring that is a pia to get out. if i had to do it again i think i would take the top mount portion off the body, remove the piston nut,and remove the shaft. i think it would give more room to remove the dust cap and seal head. be prepared to make a big mess as well. Where am I drilling into? The part where the clip is spaced or open? Or is it just into the ring so I can push it out of the groove? I tried to remove tube off the body but was afraid of warping the tube. Info is good keep it going. What are the specs on the schrader valve? Looking to add this so I can add nitro easier. Thanks..
