race fuel or premium pump gas?

I was just wondering at what point would you HAVE to start running a race gas in your shee over premium pump gas?? I just got a new shee and it is on a fresh top end and has the coolhead on it,toomey pipes, bigger carbs,b8es plugs...what would you guys suggest?

I'm no race fuel expert, but I've always heard anything running 160-170 and up in compression should be on race fuel. Someone will correct me if I'm wrong but, if your bike isn't set up properly for race fuel it can possibly hurt the performance.

I can't say that it would actually hurt performance but a good rule of thumb is the lowest octane you can run without detonation. The lower the octane the faster the burn and also the higher octane burns hotter making the engine run abnormally hot. So in theory I wouldn't say that the race fuel would hurt performance, but rather "hinder" it. You'll make more power on a lower octane if your engine is set up for it than you would with race fuel. Plus I don't know what you guys pay for fuel but that's about a $3-4/gallon waste if you don't actually need it. Just my 2 cents.
