mrdoorguy
Ok here's my mods stock stroke stock bore 2 into intake 38mm keihin carb trinity stg 4 head 18 cc domes 108-112 octane gas I run toomey t6 pipes and silencers v3 reeds so I had my jugs drag ported by hjr. Put it all back together and it fired right up. Went through heat cycle etc. Runs great at idle and mid range. When I get it on the band it starts pulling really hard then starts cutting out. I had a 200watt Ricky stator. Changed it back to oem heard they are better. I took the jet out of the bott of the carb it read 188. I went to a 182 and worse. Went to 190 got a little better. Should I keep going bigger. Let me know. Thanks a bunch everyone.
Boston
whats your altitude and what do you have your timing set as?
Larry's Shee
You may have answered your own question. If 188 is what you had before porting you have to jet up. Kind of odd combo , drag port/single carb. Any time amout of air flow is changed, jets must be changed.

J-Madd
Never hurts to test the ignition coil and check the plug caps.
mrdoorguy
LIke how big. ps. my pickup coil is set at 18 thousandths. do i need to screw with the needle? i ran great before i ported it. so it was dead on then!
mrdoorguy
how do i check the ignition coil? and as far as plug caps, i just gave them a little tiny bit of a crimp. good idea?
zachass9
I would check the plug wires and plug caps!! Cheap solution, and that is where I would start looking, if jetting changes dont help!! Just buy new caps, they are like 8 bucks a piece!! Drag port + cv intake and single carb = odd results!! LOL Good luck
mrdoorguy
Ok got some new info. I put in a 230 main. Cuts out bad. This may seem crazy but it doesn't miss at wot in first or in neutral or with clutch in. After 1st gear it starts missing. What do you guys think now.. By the way with the 230 in it idled very low it didn't like it. I'm wondering am I maybe getting water in the cylinders. Or no way. H20 equals white smoke right. Please any help would be great. I'm getting kinda stressed and nervous!
zachass9
Sounds way to familiar!! Put on some new plug caps at least, if not replace the plug wires and all ends!! Just my .02, but in my early years of banshee ownership I had the same issues and spent about 3 grand trying to figure it out!! LOL I did end up with a new cheetah set up out of the deal, but it was all solved by the purchase of new plug caps!! It pipped and missed on topend!! Good luck!! Do I need to buy them from a shop or can I buy them from an auto part store and make them the correct length and crimp the ends on. Any specific brand or style you guys think is best? Thanks
ClimbAnyHill
I assume this motor passed the leakdown test? You sure you're not running that carb bowl dry at WOT? Why a drag port with one carb? I would also post complete jetting specs, include pilot size, & needle in this carb.
Larry's Shee
You could ohm the caps, don't have the value in front of me ,it's in the Clymers. If you replace them use NGK, cut 1/4 inch off wire before install. X-2 on leakdown. Did you talk to your builder/porter about your set-up you're running? I don't know a lot about different set-ups but IIRC, T-6s are for stock cyl, and single carb are mostly for trail set-up at best. With drag porting you might not have a strong enough signal at low rpms and not enough carb for high rpms , along with the pipes choking it. JMHO, your results may and will vary.
