americanmusc1e
I just got a 99 banshee and it has some front suspension problems...... both front shocks do not rebound properly after they are compressed..... if you push the front down and then let go of it it comes up a little bit (more on one side than the other) then if you let it sit for a while it might come all the way back up.... if I take the shocks off the suspension cycles freely through the full range of motion I have the them adjusted all the way up and it helps a little, but I only weigh 140 pounds I'm assuming that I need new shocks..... but I'm on a tight budget.....new Yamaha banshee shocks are $250 apiece and aftermarket start at double that I've considered used YFZ450 shocks, but I've heard that they don't work very well with the stock a-arms are stock banshee shocks rebuildable??? or should I just take my chances with a used set of banshee shocks... what are my options on shocks for under $250 a set???? So Cal Suspension
Stock front shocks are not rebuildable, unfortunately. As the previous poster said, you can pick up a good set of used Works shocks for around $250-$300. There are deals to be had on eBay, frequently. If you find some on ebay that catch your attention, send me a PM with the link, and I will do my best to check them out for you. There have been TONS of junk shocks being sold on eBay lately, that are beyond repair. If you find any for less than $200, there is a reason they are so cheap. I would look for a set of Dual Rate, stock length Works Performance shocks. Stock length shocks are 14.75" Eye to Eye. I wouldn't run YFZ450 shocks on stock a-arms. You will lose a little bit of up travel, and they are about an inch and a half too long to fit the stock a-arms. If you're on a really tight budget, contact NYUK on here, and see if he has any good condition stock Banshee shocks. They usually sell for $60-$100 a pair. Sometimes less. Trick2stroke
I think I have a set of stockers laying around that are in decent shape, definitely functional. I'll check if you're interested. I'd let em go for 50 shipped.

I still have to pay my mom back the cash she loaned me to buy the bike the bike before I can go and buy shocks. I was supposed to have her payed off a week ago, but both of my trucks decided to break down and I'm strapped for cash this instant.....
