His VF2s reeds have a plastic insert on the carb side that goes horizontally across the width of the throat of the reed. This piece which goes horizontally across the throat, is holding the non moving end of the reed itself, and therefore cannot be removed. When mounting them onto the stock intakes, the horizontal piece is in the way of the raised plastic nodes which are part of the intake. Does he cut the nodes off, or what? It doesnt seem right, but I was kinda puzzled. Once you have the intake and the stock reed cage off the motor bolt them together with a regular nut and bolt; BUT put a washer in between them. This creates a space thick enough to fit a fine tooth hacksaw blade between them. Simply cut off the excess rubber. Do it slow so that you will have a nice clean cut.
