crustydemon
How many of you sand guys dont run front brakes and why? I's it just for weight reasons?
Fast-Fibers
I don't run front brakes on drag bikes or dune bikes. You drop a lot of weight, have less drag and rotating mass and clean up the handle bars.

RadarRacing
x3. Weight on the front is the worst type of weight on sand. If you arent dragracing then front brakes are just fine. I find on dirt or street riding/racing it takes me a looooong ways to stop. At the track setup at the genoa nebraska dragraces a couple years ago i partially ran into the river after every pass. CraigP
Kind of off topic but do you guys know a way to eliminate the front brake drag while still having functional and effective front brakes?
crustydemon
Thanks guys, I'm new to the sand stuff and have come across I few things that I am unsure of. For just regular riding here if you dont have front brakes you'll end up in a barbed wire fence in a hurry!
BUILDER
I would love to get rid of my front brakes but when you do tree shots you need youtr front brakes so you can roll down in them and not kill yourself.
Coupelx
I rarely use mine but like was mentioned they are handy on dunes and steep hills or in an oh shit scenario. the last time i had mine apart i am pretty sure it had the original 2001 brake pads in the front. Badbar88
If I didn't have front brakes I would eat shit 5 times a day, I never use my rear brakes.

Banshee Chad
I ride 90% dunes and use my brakes a lot. But I ride hard and never let off, sometimes u gotta stop fast. Both front and back in different situations. I don't race tho, I like to ride the dunes like its a soft mx track. And if u miss a gear climbing, Ull be glad u got the fronts when u got them gripped leaning over your bars so u don't roll.
06specialedition
I ride 100% dunes and still run front brakes with no issues...I like to be able to stop quick if needed.
