I am having an issue with my banshee, under hard acceleration im getting a kinda ratcheting feel n sound coming from what I think is the trans, The clutch does not feel as if its slipping at all, does anyone have any input on where i begin looking for the culprit? I am unsure of the year or the mods I do know it has jcs on the side of the cylinders, fmf pipes, kool head, 36mm carbs. This machine is faster than my other quads by far( bolt on modded trx 450, 488 athena yfz, ported fmf pipped 28mm carbed shee) I am Ice racing 1/4 mile if that helps at all. Thank you in advance. That is what it feels like a toothless sprocket. this thing pulls like mad even with this feel/sound in it. Thank you for the response what should i check next? Put the axle up on something , put trans in first gear, try rolling wheels foreward and backwards enough to the point just before engine turns over (make sure ignition is OFF) , checking for your "skipp". Then pull plugs, and roll engine over in each gear. Could be broken gear in trans or primary reduction. bansheesrtoys Posted February 2, 2011 Report Share Posted February 2, 2011 (edited) i had the same problem with a brand new primary drive sproket. it wasn't so bad at first but after a few long rides the rear sproket had 4 missing teeth, and most of the rest looked like a shark fine. When it first started it was mostly WOT. check each tooth on the rear sproket real close. roll it on the ground and see it the chain gets cuaght on the rear sproket. when you are down there look at the rollers and front chain slide too. the stock frot slide is junk and when it goes out the chain will eat into your swingarm. just worth a look. sangheraent Posted February 17, 2011 Report Share Posted February 17, 2011 Mine made ratchiing sounds as well. it was the axle bearings shot to shit. sounded like the chain skipping but my sprockets were in perfect condition and I had a new chain that was tight. the bike when jacked up the rear tires spun perfectly and for a long time seemed like the bearings were good. but when I opened it up they were dry and worn original 1994 bearings.
