I personally have a YFZ 450 and like it for the trails, but it is dog slow compared to the shee in the sand. Get what you want, and have fun. midlifecrisis Posted February 3, 2011 Report Share Posted February 3, 2011 Sure the 4 pokes are more reliable (so to speak) but its really all about the maintenance you do, and your up keep of the machine. One of the kids who works for me, has an LTR 450, and it always seems to have issues. Forget a cheap do it yourself fix as well, those things cost a fortune to maintain and fix when they do break. (or check out any 450 forum... ect) Anyway, I guess I didn't realise how thin-skinned some people are. I'll try to keep my wise cracks to a minimum. I agree- let him have it!!! Even though I'm a proud owner of a yfz450 as well as a banshee. Both serve their purpose and I can find a race all day long when i'm on the 450 at Gordon's Well , but jump on the banshee and most of the time it's 3 races and people shut down. volcrano Posted February 4, 2011 Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 Pretty sure im a damn good rider and ask your but buddy to get me some, interesting reply.do u want a 700 because your neighbor is talking shit and people say u wont win?if u have to get high in rpms for power u need a better set up or a compression test.my 4 mil will shit on a 700 and a 450 is pointless.my stock bore with fattys and vitos pistons pulled one by 2 bikes and i weighed 75 lbs. more than the guy on 450.im not talking smak about a 700,they do have monster torque,but u can build a motor to have great torque and will make ur sausage crawl into ur stomach when the powerband hits,if u can hang on.no 700 has given me that rush.get a loan for $1500 and build power my friend.x2 on the rebuild.hope u got deep pockets.what other bike can u get to where u can build whatever motor u want?thats y i love these.u can port,stroke,small bore,big bore,cubs,trex,serval,monoblock,skies the limit.but like said before,u gotta wanna wrench and build the happiness.to each his own. bluebanshee421 Posted February 4, 2011 Author Report Share Posted February 4, 2011 I understand what you are saying volcrano but I ride mostly trails, and mountains and I like the low end a raptor has if you can find a motor build that will give me a hell of a lot more low end I will look into it but like I said banshees are top end monsters and like you said once you hit the powerband there is nothing else like it its like being shot out of a cannon and I do ride sand sometimes so if yall can find a build that will work for me let me know and I might go with it instead of a 700 and fuck 450's all they are is race bikes thats all they will ever be. I just put a 4mill in mine with a play/dune port and holy shit you want to talk about difference. I am running stock carbs right now with pro circuit pipes and it has plenty of torq. I bet you are one of those guys who short shifts all the time so the engine has to pull back up into its power range and then cant figure out why everyone beats you. get the fucking revs up there where they belong.
