Your not seeing the big picture here.. You have NO choice but to spilt the bottom end and inspect everything if the plug was smashed closed, and there were pieces fyling around in there you have no choice.. Unless you want it to chew up your brand new pistons the very next time you start it you have to split the cases and inspect everything.. The piston isnt gonna gernade and smash plugs just from heat.. THERE ARE OTHER ISSUES!!!

n2o is completely right. your gonna need to split the cases no matter what. IF the piston did come up and kiss the piston then you probably blew a crank bearing and that's why it made love to your spark plug. and if your piston is broken then your going to have to pull your cases apart anyways to get ALL of the pieces out of the motor. Even though you think that you got it all out of the exhaust.....you could be missing a tiny little piece that's made its way into your cases......that bad boy gets up inside again and its doin the cha-cha dance all over your NEW pistons.

Any up & down will not work. A little side to side is OK.

Stock bore is 64 mm. Cylinders wear like this ( ). If they are not straight, your pistons wont last long.

Pick a site sponsor and call them. Call two or three. I would find one I liked and send them my cylinders and crank for inspection and repair.

I think you will surprised at the prices you are quoted. I guarantee you will save money in the long run.

even if he is too cheap to rebuild anything (if it even needs it) in the bottom end.....at least pull hte cases apart and inspect it for pieces of the piston......i bet you find some. like i said....it'll do the cha-cha tap dance all over your shit. i understand the fact of yoru dad not wanting to pay.....but itll only cost you like $10 for a tube of yamabond to reseal the cases........haha

Get yourself a manual. and pay close attention to things when you take it apart... On things that I take apart that have many components Ill write on the with perm marker little notes, as well as sketch a quick picture if there are multiple parts that go in a sequence.. They arent all the complicated once you start taking it apart..

the clymers manual is REALLY helpful....worth its weight in gold when it comes to owning and wrenching on a banshee. They are like $25-30. Or since i know your on a budget then you can even go to the library and check it out for free. It has TONS of great info including the step-by-step disassembly and reassembly and how to check everything. You may be able to find some step by step written out tips on here if you try the search button. let us know how it all goes

hey! shut up and listen =)

there are bigger fish to fry than worrying about cases with chain whack..... get wiesco 513 series pistons.... SPLIT THE CASES and get all the bullshit outta the bottom of your motor!!!!!!!!! there's stuff in there... i promise.........

get your crank checked/rebuilt.... were not ALL saying this cause its fun to do and feels great. you probably had a lower end bearing fail... which would cause the problem you're having.... in fact that's where my money is...

and lastly... it probably needs to be bored... if for no other reasons than your pistons matching the bore.

if there's something your dad doesn't wanna pay for cause he doesn't think its necessary.... set up a lemonade stand and help him out...
