Larry's Shee
Is this a fresh bore? Rings gapped? Almost looks as if ports aren't champhered properly.
Jereme6655
larry has a good question. Was it freshly bored? looking at the port on the upper right side of your picture it looks like there are chunks taken out of your cylinder. It does look like your ring may have snagged the middle port and folded itself a little and then wore that pattern into your cylinder. If this was a fresh bore who assembled it? it does look like the chamfer may be a little shady...
bigborebanshee
Either you were beating on the engine before it reached operating temp or the piston briefly overheated and expanded too much. I usually check to make sure the bore is still in spec,as long as there is no transition,i would just re-ring and take some fine oiled emery paper and "lightly" rub it out. What you see on the cylinder is from the piston, buts its more like a glaze. BigRed350x
Are you running cast pistons or forged? The wear marks you see can be caused by a few things... Improper chamfer on the ports, not letting the engine reach operating temp before you take off and start beating on it. The pistons expand at a different rate than the stock iron sleeves. The piston will absorb heat faster than cylinder and it will expand faster. If you don't let the entire engine reach temp before you take off the piston can wear on the cylinder walls in odd patterns.
sprinklerman
Those gouges by the transfer look like someone had the shaky-hands when they were porting the cylinder maybe?
banshee9090
Ok guys both cylinder has same sign and that is last bore 66.5 piston from hot rod all installation and porting was done by my self , that is the first time I rebuild engine in my life .I remember the gas tank was ¼ and I add it up to the full and go around for 30 minuets but later I remember that I forgot to mix oil to the additional gas witch i add ,I think the problem is lock of mixing oil + temp+ frist time builder thanks guys for the good commentand helpful information . sleeper06
almost looks like a cold seaze, you def need to chamfer those ports much better regardless of the mixture being wrong
Boston
sorry to kinda steer or course here but what is chamfer? sorry fellas kinda new at this whole thing.
crustydemon
Chamfer is smoothing the radius edge around the ports. It's not good and I bet thats what caused most of that light scoring. It's easily fixable.
