I just got my dad a bike today. It has a pretty agressive port job,vf reeds and 35mm keihins. Only problem is that it has 18cc domes, and dad is not gunna spend the money on race gas. I have an extra stock head I can just shave at work or get bigger domes. Im just thinking that these carbs are going to suck if i drop that much comp? The guy says it has 190 in each cylinder right now, I havent checked so.......? Help me out.

Thanks

Get some 20 or 21cc domes or use that stock head and see how it goes. I use to have stock head, 135PSI, pump gas and 35.5PWK´s in my ported stock cyl motor and it runs great! No problems with those big carb´s. I need to use small pilots to get it right, 40 in summer time and 42 in winter time.

Unless you do a lot of drag racing, I would step down to a 28, 30 or 32mm carb. Maybe a 33pwk. The smaller carbs will help a lot with throttle response. You will get a stronger signal across the dump tube and it will be a little easier to tune. 35's are a little big for a stock stroke unless you're only drag racing. JMO.

I would keep the cool head and just buy some different domes for it. I'd look for some 28 keihins or some 32 mikuni's.

You will get a bunch of different opinions on this one. It all comes down to your budget and what you think would work best for what you're doing with the banshee.

With 190 static compression I think you would be ok with 100 octane. Try it and watch for signs of detonation. If you see/feel any, then step up to a 50/50 mix of 100/110. If you still feel it, then go to the pure 110. For the price of the high octane fuel you're better off just swapping to methanol or putting different domes in and going to pump gas. Even if you drop back to 165-175psi static you could save money and run 50/50 mix of pump gas and 100.

X2

could i get away with 100 av gas? Or will it have to use 110?

I would not run av gas. If the bike is truly meant to be run on race gas and you run av gas your gonna have detention problems. 110 race gas has a Motor Octane Number at around 108-109( varies from brand to brand) and 100 av is around 99-100.

If you change out the domes you can still ride it with the 35 but its not gonna have good throttle response. I would give some of the engine builder on here a call they would give you the best advise. There Andy at M&M atv good guy to deal with or any of the other site sponsors.

Alright thanks, only reason I am concered is because the guy that I purchased it from was trying to tell me he ran pump gas and it ran fine, he also has some br9eg plugs in it. I had the head off last night and there was no pitting from detonation, so maby he was not bs'ing me but im not sure.

Check the compression and if it´s high and you want to use pump gas, then get some bigger domes.

I would get bigger domes and see how it goes with pump gas and with those 35´s before buying anything else. JMHO
