I run 4. But my motors really making power. 4 helps keep it from twisting in the frame as much. 2 on opposites is stock. I wouldn't make them out of rubber. They are metal with a rubber coating over them. 13 bucks sound high, but motors twisting and wearing your chain and sprockets will cost you more in the long run. :shrugani:

I believe yamaha originally used them to align the engine in the frame, not to prevent the engine from twisting. Remember when they designed it, they were only making 35ish HP, so they weren't really intending them to be used to prevent any kind of twisting. 35hp wasn't enough to make them twist in the stock frame with the front, rear and lower engine mounts.

One in front and one in the rear on opposite sides is how the factory has them.

left front, and right rear will take the load that the chain is putting on the engine. the other sides can be absent, or whatever you want to put there. i believe they are there to stop metal on metal contact, since the motor is vibrating in there anyways.

When you get to 100HP you'll want 4. LOL. And if you make more....you'll be fabing up a strut brace from the frame to the stator side cover.
