chillls
thinking about doing a +4 mill kit with dune port for the next mod whats involved in doing this kit? whats the best kit or way to go? & is this set up also considered a 400 kit? would like to be able to use some of the parts i already have im running 34mm carbs 6" K&N pods 4 deg key T-5s cool head changing domes is no big deal & getting an adjustable timing plates is probably the way to go too whats your thoughts on this
Wildcardracing
Well, you have a pretty good package of supporting mods to do up a nice stroker dune motor. My advice is to go with a longrod crank and to use cut domes instead of a spacer plate. This will give you the best reliability. I would suggest ditching the timing key in favor of a plate, I've seen the offset keys shear and damage flywheels/crankshafts in the process. The 4mil with stock cylinders will displace between 373cc and 396cc with Wiseco's 795 series pistons available in 64mm-66mm in .020" increments. I would suggest getting the parts from the builder you plan to use for the portwork that way you won't endup buying items you don't need or that don't work the best with his particular setup. If you want you can give me a shout and I can put a package price together for you. Our engines are custom tailored to the rider not just generic "kits". -Brandon

Go with a ported stock cylinder over the cub cylinder setup. In the dunes you would be much happier with the ported stock cylinders. Your builder will be able to match your porting to your riding style and needs a lot better than a cub cylinder. The cubs have drag port timings and more of a light-switch powerband. There are guys who will tell you that a cub cylinder works fine in the dunes, but compared to a bike ported for the dunes they suck. There is also a new cylinder out from CP industries called the Serval. Its not a bad setup from what I've read. Its a mono-block aftermarket cylinder with port timings more geared towards dune riding. I've never personally rode one or set one up, so I won't suggest it to you, but from what I've read they are a pretty nifty setup. I suggest going with Kevin at HJR. His number is in my signature. Whatever route you choose, he can take care of your needs. Tell him Jared sent you.
Wildcardracing
I agree with Jared that a cub is not likely what you are looking for. I would need a very detailed description of the riding that this bike will see. But, you are probably going to be the most happy with a nice ported stock cylinder or Serval. locogato11283
The Serval is above and beyond any stock cylinder setup. I'd go with a Serval.
