Just curious as to what kind of gearing everyone runs on their typical rising surface.. So, let's try this format.. Use this gearing chart..

http://home.earthlink.net/~gellett/banshee.htm

Motor: 18mm DM 688cc

Max RPM: 10,000

Gearing: 19/41

Primaries: Stock

Actual tire size: 20" (Most tires are not as tall as they say on the side)

Terrain: Dirt

Launch gear: 2nd

*Miles Per Hour 1st: 39

*Miles Per Hour 2nd: 53

*Miles Per Hour 3rd: 64

*Miles Per Hour 4th: 76

*Miles Per Hour 5th: 92

*Miles Per Hour 6th: 109

thats pretty cool

10500 15/40

26inch tire sand launch in 1st

43 1st

58 2nd

70 3rd

84 4th

101 5th

no 6th seems right as i tried to gear to hit 80mph in 4th on gps and my rpm was showing avg shift rpm at 10,500 to 11000 overrev and i almost never get the bike into 5th

I'd say it's close.

Weight has to do with MPH as well...

I'm 250..I go through the traps at 72 to 76MPH. I put a 175lb guy on it and it's 76 to 80MPH, same gearing.

10 mil cub

10,500 RPM (Best guess)

22 inch 14 paddle tire

16/47 or 46 gearing

2nd 45.01

3rd 54.37

4th 65.24

5th 78.04

10mm Cub Stock ratio primaries

16/45, 1-5 transmission, leave in second

Tire height: 24"

300' dirt

Max RPM 9600 (per Dyno this was the peak hp RPM)

2 - 46.86

3 - 56.6

4 - 67.92

5 - 81.25

Same as above, run with 22.2" tires sometimes:

2- 45.29

3- 54.71

4- 65.65

5- 78.53

THis as also about right. The motor will overrev a little with these tires and it will sometimes hit 80 mph with this gearing.

I may post some 421 Cubs and a couple of bigger motor examples if I get a chance.

This is mine. It´s not a drag Banshee but I´ll be doing some 1/8 on asphalt and 500ft. on dirt.

This is what I use with my 22" RazrII winter tires with 250 ice studs on each rear tire.

With stock 14-41 gearing there was not enough power in my motor to turn these tires.

Tiffnaub, your gearing is about right for your 11 paddles or you could run higher gearing. IMO you need more paddle than 11 or have too long of a swingarm. Also if you are running 85mph in 300' with a 421 I'd seriously question the mph or kudos cuz that's darn fast.I'm guessing that's 400 or so.

its 85 horse power but that would be nice if 85 mph in 300 ft
