how to run a 10mm with stock cylinders?

Recommended Posts

thisis how. you have to resleeve the cylinders and then pop up the sleeves then make a spacer plate and weld it in, OR get a head designed for the sleeve pop up then set up all the porting and you have to be careful they are easy to break into the water ports. for the cost to do it i think it would be better to just save your pennies and buy the aftermarket cylinder when your ready they are out there. and they are rare but the ones i have been around RIP

Its a lot of work. In the end to do it right it will cost you almost as much as an aftermarket cylinder. I've seen a 10mil stock cylinder that K&T did for a guy out at sand mountain. He had to have the outsides of his transfers epoxy'd to make enough material to get the ports opened up enough for the durations needed on the 10mil. Then you need a taller sleeve. To get the sleeve to fit right you will need a huge spacer plate. Then all the port work... So you're looking at a sleeve job, a port job, epoxy/welding, spacer plate... To get someone to do the work with enough quality to make it run right will cost you 3/4 of what the aftermarket cylinder would.

BS!!! Theres a 10 stock cyld bike that runs around here that RIPS!!!

didnt say it cant be done or that a few havent been fast but its going to cost as much if not more then just donig a cheetah, which is what he said he wanted to do to eventually. if he were to go with the stock cyl 10mm first and all the work the goes into it the only thing that would carry over to the cheetah would be the crank and cases, leaving him then to come up with a few thousand more for a cheetah cylinder, pistons, head, intakes, reeds, pipes....so hed now be building 2 motors basically.

just get two 4mil spacers and run a spacer plate on top and on bottom of cylinder, and run it like that until you get the aftermarket cylinders..(you'll also have to get the domes cut)

thats what im going to do....i heard port timing wont be right but let me see how it runs....it may just be the kind of power i want.

some say dont run a spacer plate on a 4mil because it messes up port timing, but ive seen plenty of them that run DAMN GOOD with the plate
