SNIPER ASSASSIN INFRAMES

Dave, I lost my hard-drive a few weeks ago but I managed to find this one video clip of Gary (Sniper Racing Products) on his Passion 421 Cub.

This is what traction and the ability to pull tire and gear will do for a 421cc Cub. Gary's bike is light, but he's not. Rider/bike combo weights are pretty close on this run. Both Bikes are Cubs with OOF pipes.

The run itself is actually a bad run for Gary, but the fact that it is such a bad run really is what makes it so impressive. Gary bogs out immediately and recovers well. We rejetted later to eliminate the bog, and actually did the very first real-runs on the Sniper OOF's later that day. Just wish I had video of the runs later that day, impressive is an understatement. This run is with Shearer OOF's. We were just messing around for tuning purpouses, not a real scientific track by no means, but a blast just the same....Jim

Do you guys have any dyno sheets comparing your in-frame sniper to an in-frame shearer, both on the exact same engine setup?

SAME ENGINE ON BOTH PIPES INDEPENDANTLY TESTED AND TUNED

BY LONNIE AND ED EUBANKS(SANDTRAX PERFORMANCE) WHILE GARY AND

I STOOD TO THE SIDE AND WATCHED

PIPES TESTED WITH A 421 CUB WITH NEAR STOCK PORT DURATIONS.

(well within the margins of accuracy of standard castings for

port timing as normally recieved from CP Industries) ALTHOUGH

THIS CUB CYLINDER IS SLIGHTLY LESS EFFICIENT THAN MY MOST CURRENTLY

AVAILABLE DESIGNS ,IT IS A VERY GOOD REPRESENTATION OF CUBS BEING

SUPPLIED BY VARIOUS BUILDERS IN TIME/AREA AND PORT EFFICINCY RANGES.

PIPES WERE ACTUALLY DEVELOPED ON MY HIGHEST END RMS DRAG PORTING THAT

UNTIL RECENTLYWASN'T AVAILABLE TO THE GENERAL PUBLIC. UNFORTUNATELY,

I DIDN'T HAVE A RMS CUB ENGINE AVAILABLE FOR DYNO TESTING OF THE

FINAL STAMPED VERSION WHEN WE RECIEVED OUR STAMPINGS. BUT, WE WERE

PLEASANTLY SUPRISED BY THE RESULTS WITH ALL THINGS CONSIDERED.

HERE IS A DYNO SHEET OF GAS VS. METHANOL ON THE SAME ENGINE

BOTH RUNS ON SNIPER ASSASSIN INFRAMES. THIS TESTING IS INCOMPLETE DUE

TO THAT NO ADJUSTMENTS WERE MADE TO IGNITION TIMING OVER THE GAS TUNING

SESSION. ALSO, WE WERE UNDER DIFFICULT TIME RESTRAINTS AND DIDN'T ADJUST

FOR PROPER COMBUSTION WHICH IS NEEDED FOR A ACCURATE METHANOL TEST.

THIS ENGINE WAS ON LOAN AND I WAS CAUTIOUS ON THESE RUNS FOR THE FEAR

OF DAMAGING THE ENGINE. HIGHER TORQUE READINGS ARE A CERTAINTY WITH

PROPER IGNITION TIMING, SQUISH VELOCITY, FLAME DURATION, AND FLAME SPEED

CORRECTION. THE RESULTS LOOK PROMISING TOUGH CONSIDERING THE STATE OF TUNE.

On another note Dave, hows that 10mill engine coming along? Gary and I are anxious to hear feedback on the Sniper OOF hybrids....Jim

Jim,

As I've told Gary and others on the board, I'm very disappointed I couldn't give Gary a better opportunity last year.

After replacing a crank seal last year, I went to our track (West Michigan Sand Drag) and made one pass with his pipes.

A dowel pin that holds the crank bearings in place (Vitos uses this, hot rods and crank works use that rubber oring) let go and found it's way to the top of my motor. I got to make one pass on a wet track. It hopefully only damaged the piston and dome...I have not split cases yet.

So after all the help, back and forth talking with Gary, I got to showcase his product with one pass and put it back on the trailer. That was October....

And...now it's snowing...lol.

I sent the pipes to my builder Kevin Herr @ Herr Jugs since he did my 10 mil...and since he's in Sunny Southern Cali, so he can test them. That's a good opportunity for you since the 500 ft. guys up in PA run your motors and his...

I have said time and time again, the quality and fit on these pipes is absolutely outstanding. As soon as I opened the box and saw the quality welds and the double Viton Oring'd flanges, I was very impressed.

Once it warms up and we start racing again, I hope to have better answers from my personal bike for Gary.... The people that saw the pipes were impressed with the quality and welds at the track!! They were digging the removable/tunable stingers as well.

Both graphs were only the sniper pipes. I'm looking for a comparison between some of the other pipes out there. Shearer, CPI, etc...

Top graph shows Sniper +10.12HP & +6.58 lbs/tq. OVER Shearer inframe....Jim

Thats funny. What are the odds two people with the same name here and our birthdays are like 9 months apart too. Lol

All bs aside, i would like to try a set of the inframes. And like someone else said, how would these work on the smaller motors, like a 350?

We will be testing on a 350 next week, it has been ported by Sandtrax in Tulsa. It has small carbs, factory air box and currently runs T4's and is well known in our area for being a good tuned and fast bike.

I don't think okbeast meant anything by it.

If someone told me they switched pipes and picked up 5 tenths I'd be the first to call BS.

That being said...2-3 tenths on average over the course of a year with better tuned pipes over 500 foot (I have to keep forcing myself to think 500 foot vs. 300) is impressive.

That being said...

I've been told time and time again that BBDR is a crappy track for drag racing. And from the vids I've seen I'd have to agree.

500 ft is an oddball number to race by ATV Drag racing standards...

The track is beat to hell and never graded, and that's what you all have told me. Not exactly a selling/travel point to come and race the track.

That being said...if that's all you have to race at, I COMPLETELY understand...

I just think, and this is my opinion and ONLY my opinion, I'd love to see you guys come to a more standardized, established track.

I know that's tough to do...but it would be fun.

Andrew, congrats on your accomplishments, certainly I'd be proud too.

Don't take things too personal...:)

Yea, its a shame they dont take better care of that track. Most people are not familiar with that track because it's a 500ft run. But,they have a tremendous turnout for some "who brought the horsepower" type racing. I just wish our local tracks had the turnouts those guys get out there. I have to build totally different engines for that particular track. It's not only a tough track to ride on, its a tough track to build for as well. Andrew is a great guy, he's just taking offense to comments on the track I think being talked about as some" hole in wall" nothing track. For its "type" of track it's a premier event. That track is a really good "feedback" track from a builders standpoint. 97-98 mph runs in the ruts?....geeeesh...those guys have the balls, thats for sure....Jim

I apologize for some of the things i have said. I was caught up in the heat of the moment and with drill for the weekend and crap at home left me in one hell of a mood. As for the track, we have an impressive turnout, on average 375 entries we pass through from 12 in the afternoon to 12 midnight in a double elimination set up. it is difficult and the bbdr staff deserves alot of credit. As for me, I among any builders know the amount of time, tuning and prep work that goes into building a reliable banshee. not to mention the frustrations of the little things going wrong. tire pressure being a little off, hooking to hard, not feathering the clutch off the start. the track is very difficult to ride and even guys with 20 yrs exp. have their big one. Sorry I do take alot of pride in the things I do, but thats what makes me pretty good at what i do. I pay more attention to detail that way.

I'd like to see those numbers when u run it. I'm running CPI's on my ported stock stroke 350....I'd like to see how they do on a smaller motor like mine

Yeah, i got the ones on ebay. i received a tracking number that they were shipped out today. currently running cpi inframes on a 7mm stock cylinder, but building a 10mm cub that should be ready soon. will probably try the snipers on the 7 while the 10 is going together. won't get to try them out until mid February though, presidents day weekend. i have a buddy with a 10 cub running some shearer sb oof's that may try them too for a comparison. no dyno or 300' times, just side by side racing. :)
