chillls
so if i dont really want to spend the money on after market rear shock to lower the rear of the shee what do you guys recommend to lower the rear about 2"? i am running sock shocks (& i know how you all feel about them)& a-arms. i replaced the swing arm a while ago with a round housing (stock length). my plan is to lower the whole bike about 2" but again not spend a ton of money right now. thanks in advance.... Trick2stroke
I would imagine the cheapest route is a lowering link for the linkage or having the stock shock shortened. There may be a shock swap off another bike that will lower it. Depends on how you need to it perform also, what is the reason for lowering? So Cal Suspension
The BEST way to lower your rear, is to run a shorter shock. 99-03 Yamaha R1 shocks do the trick nicely and can be had for $35-$75 on ebay. As far as the fronts go, same thing, shorter shocks. But before you buy anything, what kind of riding are you going to be doing?
chillls
the shee only get ridden in the duns & as far as why i want to lower it is i just wanted a lower stance. im getting older now (haha 39) & i dont do much jumping (kid scares the HELL out of me on his yfz450 when he jumps) & then the occasionally drag race. If you don't do any jumping, or anything, get a set of 660 raptor shocks, and the r1 rear shock. The 660 raptor shocks are 13" Eye to Eye. 1.5" less than the stock banshee shocks, and will give you about 2-3" of a drop.
chillls
ohhhhh..... sweet im going to steal them off the wifes 05 660...HAHAHA so the 99-03 R1 shock bolts right in & fits? that would be cool. does anyone know how much it would lower it? anyone got one they want to sell??? trickedcarbine
You can also try using fronts off a 300ex shocks or blaster shocks up front. Then out back you can run the R6 shock. Not sure if the R1 shock is direct bolt up or not but on the R6 will need bushings for the smaller holes. Good knowledge on the raptor 660.
